Dirty, Unhygienic place full of cockroaches and animal droppings with rude owner
I've never left accommodation that I've been staying in - until now!

This apartment was so dirty and was genuinely a health hazard. We found lots of dead cockroaches around, insect / animal droppings all over the floor and walls, other people's hair in a big ball clogging up the shower drain and an infestation of ants in one room.
It was clear this apartment hadn't been cleaned ready for our arrival which meant I had no choice but to leave the apartment early.
We informed both Airbnb and the owner of the issues and showed all the photo evidence we had (because the photo evidence doesn't lie). Airbnb immediately agreed we could no longer stay in this apartment and refunded us in full but the owner didn't agree at all.
Instead the owner became extremely rude and argumentative with us when we handed the keys back.
The owner said when we arrived we saw the apartment was clean but in truth we didn't inspect it or immediately notice all problems at first.
However, I don't personally think it's normal that you start looking for or noticing the issues that I've described, especially after a long journey (over 17 hours!) involving a 12 hour flight with a baby.
But, very quickly we started to find lots of dead cockroaches around. The owner said "it's normal" and that they "must have died during our stay". I seriously doubt over 10 dead cockroaches have entered the apartment and died in our first 24 hours. They clearly have been there before our arrival and that makes me wonder why haven't the dead cockroaches been cleaned?
Plus it shows the apartment has a huge problem with cockroaches to begin with, and therefore a general issue with cleanliness as cockroaches are naturally attracted to dirty conditions!
Also, why were there so many insect / animal droppings all over the floor and walls? I doubt they suddenly appeared in our first 24 hours. Again, it shows the apartment has an insect / animal infestation problem that needs sorting out immediately before anyone else stays in this apartment.
Lastly, the huge amount of other people's hair left in the shower drain (it was all grey and neither my wife or I have grey hair!) was definitive proof demonstrating that the property hadn't been cleaned at all. It's also further proof that the cockroaches and animal droppings must have been there before our arrival and hadn't been cleaned ready for our arrival.
All of the issues were so unhygienic, especially considering we had a small baby with us.
Criticising somebody's apartment isn't something I've ever done but I've never felt so disgusted with a place I've stayed in before and I've stayed in hotels and apartments of varying quality all over the world. I strongly believe it's my duty to warn other people about the horrors I found in this apartment.
I read lots of reviews when choosing a place to stay and never expect perfection but I do expect a basic level of cleanliness. This apartment failed and that's why we had no choice but to complain and leave early.
We were so excited to stay here and enjoy everything it had to offer, but in the end its been a huge disappointment. After all, how can you enjoy your holiday when you're constantly finding dead cockroaches, animal droppings & other people's hair when showering.
Leaving as soon as we could was the best decision we made and I'm disgusted that anyone feels it's acceptable to rent an apartment to someone in this condition.
Thankfully, we did not have any issues in the next 2 places we stayed in during our holiday!
Finally, instead of an apology, we've been told we're "not very honest" and "acting like victims". However I'm not surprised as the owner was rude & aggressive in person and acted in a way that we had somehow wronged them!
I hope this review serves as a warning to other potential guests and gives the owners the motivation to clean their apartment ready for future guests.

A new look
The whole place has been delightfully renovated. The forecourt is so charming you would want to spend long hours there. A real gem.

confortable maison face à la plage
Maison bien agencée,spacieuse,WC,douche R de Ch et étage,idéal pour ne pas se déranger.TV idem(2).Clim ou ventilos,bonne literie.Trés bien sécurisée.Seul bémol,le ventilo de la salle à manger trop bruyant .Petits commerces à proximité,pour le supermarché,le bus(toutes les 10 ') ou le taxi(2oo Rs=5€)
