Amazing place in Ayutthaya. The property is right on the riverfront and seems to be run by an elderly couple. They greeted us very friendly when we arrived with our rental car, showed us a place to park and then sat us down with a refreshing iced tea for the check-in formalities. We were showed to the big room overlooking the river, which had great A/C (it was a very hot day...), amazing views, a comfy bed and was very clean. What makes this place so special though, is the charming furniture / design and the beautiful garden. There are so many great places to sit at the river - whether it's on a swing or on a reclining chair - you don't even have time to see the ruins anymore because all you wanna do is chill in the garden. Another huge plus was the breakfast. They take your individual order and then serve you tea, coffee, juice, eggs, sausage, fruit, rice thingys, etc. on the riverfront. Simply great! Thank you so much! Ayutthaya itself was not as cool as Sukhothai, in our opinion, but we would probably come back one day simply for the accommodation ;-)

Wir waren dort im Januar 19. Es gibt da zwei wunderschöne Appartments auf Pfählen direkt an einem Nebenarm des Chao Praya River. Die Appartments sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und es gibt einen schönen Garten zum Fluss. Das Frühstück war gut und umfangreich. Außerdem stehen kostenlose Fahrräder zur Verfügung. Bei den Temperaturen in Thailand ist es nicht sinnvoll die Stadt zu Fuss zu erkunden. Es ist zu groß. Die Vermieter wohnen auch dort und sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Auf dem Grundstück sind Autoparkplätze. Mit dem Auto ist es etwas schwer zu finden, da die Zufahrt durch eine Einfahrt von der Hauptstrasse erfolgt.

We stayed for four nights with our 5 year old and 6 month old and could happily have stayed longer. We had the elevated Thai wooden house which was gorgeous with a deck looking over the river. There are steep stairs leading down to the water so I wouldn’t stay here with a toddler as they might go in but it was lovely with kids our ages. The only negative is that decent food is a distance away (maybe 1.5 km) but we rode the bikes and one night Duke drove us to the excellent nightmarket. Wouldn’t be a problem with older kids who like bikes. Duke really went the extra mile to keep our daughter happy and interested in the splash pool, the swing, making snow cones, dressing up in Thai clothes, drawing etc. a great place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay at this place so much! It is so beautiful, clean, relaxing.Our accommodation included a sitting room, a bedroom and a shower room. Everything was nice. The bed was very comfortable, perfect for a good night sleep. The garden there is so wonderful! It is so well looked after.The plants are so beautiful, you can just sit there relaxing and watching the river, all wonderful plants around you, pretty birds. If you have breakfast there , you can sit in that garden and enjoy a delicious breakfast. The owners are lovely people, very welcoming and helpful. Thank you for our enjoyable stay !

Such a beautiful place to visit. The room is spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast is quite good. Such a relaxing place there. I would definitely visit there again. Recommended!

WE have booked Phuttal Residence for two days, for three people. Before booking I asked Duke several questions regarding our stay, he responded in a very prompt way and very patiently. His advice helped us a lot with our travel plan. On the day of checking in we were surprised by the clean, cute place. Lots of designs have showed the good tastes of Duke and attention to details. The decorations Are beautiful and show the history and culture of Thailand. On the second day we rode the free bikes from the place to explore Ayuttahya which was a big plus for staying here. Unfortunately, I have got sunstroke from the whole morning touring and have to change our plan. Duke has helped so much with helping to arrange tuktuk for my parents to take their tour without me companying. In the evening, duke even went out to buy medicine for my fever!!! I was deeply moved by his behavior and could not thank him for more. What he said has even moved me more - “ once you stay with us you are a friend of us, this is how we treat friends.” Because of Duke I got recovered on the second day and can continue my trip as planned! So, come to phuttal residence and you will experience all of the place and Duke’s kindness in person. Oh, and also, love the breakfast and love the canvas bag!!! Use it everyday now!!! I stayed one night with my family. It was an amazing and peaceful atmosphere! House is very warmly welcome. Rooms are beautifully and detailed decorated in Thai design. I really enjoyed having Thai massage by the river watching people living life by the river. Breakfast was great in Traditional Thai style. The owner and his family are very helpful and friendly that made me feel like our home. I love this place! And I will come back again! Strongly recommend to everyone who plan to visit Ayutthaya.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Phuttal Guesthouse. The room (suite really) was very spacious featuring a very comfortable seating area and a nice bedroom both air conditioned. The toilet, bathroom and shower was also very nice. Breakfast was excellent and choices discussed with Duke the night before. There are tables and chairs scattered in the grounds where guests have their breakfast overlooking the canal. The grounds are really pleasant with frontage on the south east bank of the Klong linking the main river and we spent hours relaxing and watching unusual birds, water monitors and people going about their daily lives. The people living in simple houses on the opposite bank were particularly interesting to watch. I really enjoyed fishing from the steps leading down to the water and was often offered advice and bait from the very friendly Phuttal staff. Duke is a really, really nice man and extremely helpful. Not only did he help with our questions about Ayutthaya but also about our previous stay in Lampang where he used to live. Every query I put to him in the months leading up to our trip was answered immediately by Duke with sound advice. We arrived in Ayutthaya at 05:00 on the overnight train from Lampang so we actually reached Phuttal at 05:45. Duke was up to greet us, gave us tea then allowed us to use a vacated room until our room was ready. All very much appreciated after a long journey. On both evenings Duke drove us to our chosen restaurant to ensure that we got to where we wanted. A tuktuk back from the ancient centre was around tbh100. We had visited Ayutthaya 3 years ago and were not anxious to visit all the major sights so we did not really get much of an impression of how easy it would be to get to the major monuments from Phuttal. We did walk the 2km to Wat Phu Khao plus the interesting and educational organic farming project nearby called Ban Kong Por. We would certainly stay here again and would recommend Phuttal to family and friends without hesitation. An outstanding Guesthouse.

Perfect place to relax after ancient city visit. Close to all tourist spots. Free bicycles. Green and calm garden on riverbank. Nice villa with cool decoration and comfort. Boat trip from home is available. Massage in garden is available. Nice breakfast. Very supportive staffs.
