If you stay at the The Dairy Cottage you will enjoy a quiet, isolated tranquility.
It's situated a 5 minute drive from the centre of Pocan (or Puckane, they seem to have more than one spelling. for this small village), just 15 minutes outside Nenagh in County Tipperray.
The 5 minutes from the the village centre - a church, 2 pubs and a religious grotto, a few B&Bs and strangely enough a Vauxhall dealership - are not a walking 5 minutes.
You could walk... but the lanes are not lit, are narrow, with few passing points and have no footpaths - so you could risk walking from the village in the day, there's not much traffic around here, every day seems like a Sunday - but you shouldn't risk a walk home from the pub at night, so basically you need a car.
The cottage is situated down a gravel drive off the country lane, a little narrow and steep but quite easy to navigate and with plenty of parking space and turning space outside the cottage.
The cottage itself is recently built or refurbished and is in excellent condition. There is a house bathroom which serves the larger main bedroom, but is not ensuite and a Jack and Jill ensuite off the 2 other bedrooms (ideal for a family, but you need to know the other guests quite well to share the ensuite, it's not very private).
There is a well equipped kitchen - strangely no microwave - the only thing we felt that was missing, there is a good dishwasher, a cooker and good central heating. There is good free wifi and the kitchen lounge is open plan with a wood burner if you stay in the colder months.
It all works really well, and is very comfortable and warm.
There is a nice patio/terrace at the back off the kitchen overlooking open fields with distant views. If you want a bit of isolation this place would be perfect.
The owners property is close by at the top of the drive, so although when you are in the cottage you are not overlooked - there are some neighbours not too far away.
We used it as a base to visit relatives and attend a wedding it was perfect. The only downside was the fact you needed to drive back from the pub, (Ireland has a zero tolerance for drink driving) there are so few other drivers on the road, you could risk it but it's not really ideal.
I would recommend the cottage it's a really great property and holiday let, you just have to be happy with the slightly isolated location. If you happy with that then it's perfect.
