A peaceful and unique stay near Yosemite
Nestled at the back of a residential area, the Little Red Caboose gives a sense of privacy and seclusion. It was quiet and relaxing. The host was friendly and made sure we had everything needed. I loved that we had a kitchenette so preparing meals to meet our dietary restrictions was easy. Looking up at the moon and stars from the deck was very peaceful. It was a great home away from home during our Yosemite adventure.
Do note that if you’re planning to sleep in the loft, the ladder can be a challenge and all the hot air hangs up there while the rest of the caboose is cooled by the air conditioner.

Serenity near Yosemite
We were there three nights and had a great time. A fantastic way to really “get away from it all.” Rusty was friendly, informative and very helpful. A quaint, original holiday destination that we highly recommend. Thanks Rusty for your additional assistance, very much appreciated. 👍👍

Very Peaceful spot
2 adults and 2 teenagers just about squeezed into The Little Red Caboose which was very clean and well equipped. Didn't spend too much time inside anyway, we BBQ'd and ate on the deck and found we had plenty of visitors (Austin the friendly cattle dog and numerous cats). There is a large VONS supermarket but if you don't want to cook there are plenty of restaurants in Oakhurst. It was a great way to wind down after a few days doing Disney etc. in Los Angeles. Could do with a couple of extra blankets as it does go cold at night (there is an electric fire but I don't like leaving appliances on over night)

The marketing pictures did their job
Quiet property. Owners friendly/ non intrusive. Its definitely a caboose.
First impression when we pulled in was disappointing. Old abandoned Travel Trailer in driveway. Two broken down cars in neighbors yard. Deck needs maintenance and is an eye sore. Full, Stinking garbage can. Lumber and debris strewn around front in the yard.
Inside was clean and nice. Shower was great, Bed was comfy yet overwhelming for the space. All this though after you were hit with a stale old smell that had to be aired out or covered up. Barbeque on deck was filthy.
All in all not a terrible experience. Having the debris and eye sores removed and having the Caboose isolated on a nice landscaped piece of land would go a long way in my humble opinion.
Did not want to sugar coat this or jump on the "Excellent" Love train (no pun intended) We wish you all much success

Awesome stay, great location
We just left here this morning! Stayed two nights on our California road trip. Rusty and his entire family were gracious and wonderful hosts, including the pets :) Located in Oakhurst, which is a cozy mountainside town close to Yosemite and Bass Lake. Far enough on the outskirts of town, and close enough for convenience like grocery stores, sporting good shop, gas, and restaurants. The caboose is on a large piece of property within walking distance to a babbling creek. Lots of wildlife too. Quiet at night and you have a nightlight of the moon and stars. There's a grill, microwave, toaster oven, granite counter tops, direct TV, internet, full bathroom with AWESOME water pressure, and AC. A neat little place to stay! Oh, and he's also added a tree house on property as well! It's definitely worth a visit! Thank you so much Rusty! A great memory in our adventure book!

Wonderful Experience
Rusty was really friendly and helpful. The caboose was very clean and comfortable. Our 7 year old loved it. The Location is great. We would definitely stay there again.

FANTASTIC
A little slice of heaven. Very peaceful and beautiful. I'd stay here over and over. Loved having a fridge. The shower was great. There wasn't one thing I didn't like. The bed was comfortable and plenty of room inside the caboose. The owner is an absolute delight. And he's finishing up a tree house on property!!!!

Perfect Place for a Railroad History Buff
If you are a train buff, don't you want to try the incredible experience of staying in a caboose? The restored caboose has many amenities including a kitchenette, deck with a barbecue, beautiful surroundings, DVD player and tv, and a lovely family as hosts. It has been refurbished nicely with an especially comfortable bed. Close to beautiful Yosemite and Bass Lake, there are many activities for every family member to enjoy. All aboard!

So fun!
We had a 2 night stay at the caboose with our 2 grandkids (ages 6 and 8). They loved it! We spent the day in Yosemite and the grandkids could hardly wait to get back to the caboose. We all had a great time. What a fun adventure.
