Delightful Barn Conversion
Curlew Cottage was delightful and perfect for our week away. The location was exactly what we were looking for, surrounded by open countryside, yet within walking distance of local pubs and shops.
The property is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The Underfloor heating was very efficient, keeping the temperature just right and having a decent sized TV and WI-FI with good bandwidth was a real bonus for evenings in.
The views from the cottage were impressive, with big skies in all directions. We love walking and with the ridgeway only a field away we were able to walk to several local villages and historic sites straight from the door.
We were fortunate with the late summer weather and had a really great week. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing location!! Beautiful countryside views! Great place to unwind!
We have just returned from a 2 week trip to England. My husband, I, and two teenage daughters stayed at this at this lovely cottage. It was a quick 10-15 min drive to the grocery. A quick 15-20 min drive to Swindon if wanting to do a day trip to London. It is also a quick 1 to 1.5 hours from many amazing Cotswold market towns. Curlew Cottage had everything you could possibly need. The views from the cottage were simply spectacular. It also boasts a great location for some great country walks. Maddy was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The other two cottages on property are long term letters. The one lovely couple was great about helping me figure out how to use the ovens and stove (slightly different than US). By the end of our amazing but too quick a stay, we felt relaxed and at home. My husband and I want to come back and spend more time in the future and hope this cottage is still available. If you are looking for an amazing getaway with an amazing location, this cottage can't be beat!

Wonderful Cottage
Wonderful cottage.Great location. Very close to the Ridgeway Path, Avebury Circle on the Wiltshire Downs. Cottage is well presented and ideal for families or couples.

Wonderful stay in a fantastic barn
Wonderfully renovated barn, lots of space and room for 3 adults and 1 child. Great kitchen with everything you need. Lots of board games for the kids. Great location, close to pubs, shops and Avebury. Would definately stay again if in the area. The hosts are very easy to deal with and helpful. Only comment would be, took us a while to work out the heating as was on about 30 degrees when we arrived.

Best way to see 2017 in.
3 x couple and 1 x dog looking for the perfect location to celebrate and see in 2017! Well we found it in Curlew Cottage. Fabulous property, great location which was ideal for our group and the facilities were amazing. You won't and can't go wrong staying here. Thank you and we really hope to be back.

Lovely barn conversion
Clean and spacious barn conversion. Peaceful with great views over open countryside but with plenty of things to see and do close by. Plenty of room for 3 generations to sit around the dining table. The underfloor heating meant the open plan living area was wonderfully warm even when cold outside. Well equipped kitchen and utility area. It would have been nice to have a shower in the family bathroom in addition to the one in the en-suite. The owner was very helpful and quickly replied to any queries prior to our booking.

Very nice barn in peaceful location. Very central.
Very nice barn conversion. Enough space for a large family (4 teenagers).
Very comfortable beds.
Peaceful location but very central too...we spent one week and visited Bath, Oxford, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Highclere Castle and even the Harry Potter Studios near London.
Très belle location. La maison est grande, spacieuse et lumineuse, la literie très confortable. Magnifique vue sur les champs depuis le séjour et les chambres.
L'endroit est très central et idéal pour visiter Bath, Oxford, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey)...tous situés à 45-60 minutes environ. Nous avons même piqué une pointe jusqu'aux studios Harry Potter près de Londres.

Great house in super relaxing location.
Access was very easy. The converted barn was very open and made for a friendly atmosphere. The standard of cleanliness was high and the cottage was very well equipped with washing machine, dryer etc and warm dry spaces, useful for days of bad weather. The underfloor heating and double glazing was so effective that in terrible weather it was enjoyable to sit inside and watch outside. Deer visited the garden. A great place.

Beautiful Cottage - Everything we expected and more!
Curlew Cottage was the most perfect setting for our group of 6 Adults, 2 babies and a puppy!
We had such a lovely weekend in June, the weather was lovely and our surroundings were perfect.
The babies had all the space in the world inside due to the cottage being open plan and the dog had free run of the large back garden and adjoining fields which meant us adults could relax and enjoy everything else. With all kitchen necessities, making meals for 8 was a doddle, having such large bedrooms and living areas made relaxing easy and being within 1 mile of the local pub helped too!
All round it was perfect - not a single recommendation. Well done Hackpen Cottages!

Great location, beautiful cottage
Our Easter weekend at Curlew Cottage was exactly what we were hoping for. The location is stunning and being able to set off for walks without needing the car made it so relaxing. We loved the stunning views and the spacious living area was perfect for our group of 3 family couples. It felt like a real country weekend away. We loved the open plan design and the upstairs walkway to the bedrooms.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and we felt very much at home. The underfloor heating made the cottage very cosy and welcoming (especially as the weather was extreme at times). We took some games but didn't need to as the cottage has a good selection. We loved it and would happily do it again.
