We stayed at the villa for 10 days during August 2015 and the whole experience totally exceeded our expectations. Not only was the villa extremely nice and cosy, but the family and the way they welcomed us totally blew us away. I have visited Greece a couple of times before, but I can tell you that I have never experienced such amazing hospitality before. The family owning the house is just amazing. Not only were they super friendly and helpful throughout our whole trip, but they have also welcomed us with a home-made cake and have arranged a Greek dinner for us one evening. It truly felt as if we were welcome in their home, and it made us feel very special. The family lives in Athens, but they have a friend in the nearby village who looks after the house, therefore there was always someone available should we require anything. He is fluent in English and even more impressive was the fact that this man would gladly come by to chat, bring us fresh pistachios or show us where to buy olive oil.
Booking everything was super smooth as well, the family are all very responsive when booking, they gave us recommendations on how to best arrive to the village and very pleasant to deal with.
The villa itself is situated in a Greek village Vagia on Aegina island. It is not as well known with tourists, a thing you notice by the relatively low inflow of foreigners, but is very popular with Greek weekend visitors as the island is beautiful; it combines nice beaches with green mountains. All beaches we went to on the island (about 5-6 beaches) have crystal clear waters and each of them is worth visiting. This island also has several sites worth seeing, such as Agios Nektarios monastery and the ruins of the Aphaia temple, both beautiful. The island is quiet, but was perfect for us as we came there with the whole family. Vagia village in particular is a small fishermen village, there are a couple of small taverns where they cook traditional Greek food (very good), but we found it extremely handy to have rented a car, so that we could travel easily around the island. The beach near our villa was also very pleasant, only 5 minutes walking distance and not too crowded with clear blue water.
We really liked the villa itself as well. It looks much nicer in reality. First of all, the garden is spacious and very well kept. The outside area in general is well thought, you can find tables in several places, so that you can find shade any time of the day. The sunbeds in the garden were great for relaxing as well. And then there is this amazing view from the garden overlooking the blue water that we surely enjoyed every day. Everything was very clean as if it was bought just yesterday. Inside the house there is a nice living room in the middle, with 3 separate bedrooms. The master bedroom is very spacious with an ensuite bathroom and an exit into the garden. The other 2 bedrooms are a bit smaller and share another bathroom, one bedroom has a bunk bed that kids would absolutely love. The bathrooms were quite basic but very clean. The house itself was very well furnished and quite spacious, it felt as if every detail was taken care of. The family provided us with absolutely everything we needed (bath and beach towels, shampoo and shower gel). Everything you can think of for everyday use was there in the bathroom and in the kitchen as well, we didn't buy anything extra. Wifi worked perfectly, good connection and speed.
It just really felt as if it was our home for those 10 days and I would totally recommend this house to anyone willing to have a quite holiday with family or a group of friends.
