A fine villa, with a great sense of privacy
We booked a full week's stay and were very pleased with the villa... it's well equipped and comfortable, with a very functional kitchen. The location is excellent... it's in a mostly-residential area within a few minutes drive of Hauru (where many of the tourist-oriented business and restaurants are located) but far enough away to feel much less touristy. It's a very quiet and private-feeling arrangement - there's a boutique hotel on one side but we were rarely aware of them. The most interactions we had were with the local flock of chickens (ubiquitous in French Polynesia, I think) - the roosters made their presences known at all hours. Having two one-person kayaks available was a real treat - we were out on the water for several hours most days. The local shark-and-sting-ray site is within easy paddling distance, and there are commercial tour boats out there through much of the day feeding the rays... just paddle out and watch the show for free. Or, paddle further west to the inlet between two large motus, and go snorkeling in some fine clear water (a couple of curious little fish adopted my wife, and followed her along for about half an hour as she viewed the coral areas). I was a bit worried about launching the kayaks over the stone sea-wall shown in the photos, but it wasn't a problem... the property managers have built a sandy launching ramp in the middle of the wall (not shown in the pictures I think) so launching and landing the kayaks was a piece of cake. Clement was great... very responsive any time I emailed or called. This is a fine vacation home for a stay on Moorea - definitely a good value for those who prefer a home-rental rather than a hotel or resort stay.

Très bon séjour
Très bon séjour à la Villa Tiahura. La maison est idéalement située à Moorea, à 5 minutes à pied d'une supérette, et quelques minutes du "petit village" avec plusieurs magasins et petits resto. La maison est très bien équipée, le jardin se prolonge directement dans le lagon et grâce aux kayaks mis à disposition on accède en 10 minutes au spot de raies et requins. Egalement accueil sympathique de la part d'Anais et Clément. Nous recommandons cette location sans souci.

Great Location and Gorgeous Views
We are from the USA and stayed at this beach house for 14 days in February with another couple. It is located between the Fenua Mataioa guest house style hotel and private homes. We do not consider this a 4.5 star property by American standards (see comments below). A couple only using the master bedroom will find this beach house more enjoyable. Clement is NUMBER ONE in our book. He is the property manager and was available by “WHATS APP” phone app. Without his help, we would not have been able to do anything as there is no local phone in the house. Clement provided us much needed info even before our arrival. He picked us up at the ferry dock in his pickup and stopped at the local grocery store near the house to allow us to load up on the heavy items (drinks, etc.). During the two weeks, he set up excursions, made dinner reservations for us and provided a taxi ride back to the ferry boat upon our departure as he was unavailable that day. He made sure that the bed linens and towels were changed at the end of the first week. The house is on the beach. There are two single kayaks which are proved very stable. We were able to paddle down to other beach restaurants for lunch and even out to where the excursion boats brought tourist that would get in the water with manta rays and black tip sharks. The water in front of the house is very clear, sandy and shallow allowing you walk out about a quarter of a mile. I am listing the pros and cons for this house: PRO: 1. The best and most used amenity was Clement (see above). 2. The internet worked very well throughout the house including the second bedroom, 3. The house is roomy inside with two sofas and a desk in the living room area. 4. The 2 bedrooms each have A/C which worked nicely. The master bath was large. Both bedrooms have sliding glass patio doors that allowed access to the main porch 5. The dining table is located on the main porch which presented a minor problem with some of the heavy rain that we had. 6. The kitchen has a refrigerator / freezer, microwave , toaster, coffee pot and assorted pots and pans. Plenty of dishes and glasses and silverware. 7. There is a washing machine (cold water only) but no dryer but plenty of clothespins. 8. There is a small grocery store within a ten minute walk which has most items a family would need for a week stay and they accept credit cards. CONS: 1. The second bedroom only had a shower and sink, no toilet. You had to exit the sliding patio doors and either enter the unlocked living room patio door or walk around the house to use the key at the main door (don’t step in a crab hole). 2. The sliding glass patio doors do not work very well. The second bedroom door kept coming off the track making it very hard to open or close to open or close. The rollers need cleaning and lubricating. 3. There was only one key for the front door. With 2 couples wanting to do different excursions or trips created a problem of which couple did not get a key. 4. The mosquitos came out at 6:30 pm every evening and were bad enough that we had to retreat to the bedroom with the a/c and had to close the patio door to prevent being bitten. The living room had no a/c and closing the windows to keep the mosquitos out made it very hot. 5. The land crabs dig dozens of holes which you often cannot see under the grass matting, allowing you to easily get a foot caught in the hole and trip. Not much can be done about this so care needs to be taken when walking around in the yard. 6. The recycling garbage can was missing its wheels so it would not stand up allowing a lot of recyclable to keep spilling out onto the street. I think the owner should consider doing the following: 1. Repairing the patio doors so they slide properly. 2. Repair the patio door locks so they can be locked/unlocked from the outside. 3. Repair or replace the safe so it will work electronically with the key as backup. 4. Create a binder with information about the operation of the washing machine, oven, tv and cable box remotes. Putting information and instructions in the binder (probably English and French), may save phone calls to Clement. 5. Provide a second house key. 6. The living area fan was very noisy. It needs balancing, repair, or replacement. 7. Getting into and out of the water was hard for older adults as you had to climb over and down the seawall. A small opening and gate that would allow access to the water would make the stay much nicer.

A Comfortable Stay
We had a wonderful 5 nights at Villa Tiahura over Christmas. The property is not 5 star, but has everything you need for a relaxing stay, and was perfect for our family. Please note that the second bedroom does not have internal access to the rest of the house, and the bathroom attached to this bedroom does not have a toilet. This would mean you would have to leave a door open to the main part of the house at night, incase the toilet needed to be used. Clement was great to deal with, answering emails promptly and punctual when taking us to/from the ferry. Unfortunately, an intruder did enter the house one night while we were asleep (through the high bathroom window, which we had left open). A number of items were stolen. Clement was very helpful, translating with the French speaking police. Despite the robbery, I would be happy to come back and stay at Villa Tiahura again, the location cannot be beaten. There is also a small shop a five minute walk away, which sells all of your needs (like a small supermarket). Thank you Clement for all of your help, it was a pleasure to meet you.

Hi Mercer Family , Many thanks to take the time to write this nice review about your trip and your feelings about Moorea Island and the Tiahura Beach Villa . We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay ! As you write it , Yes , in the second bedroom , the bathroom attached don't have toilet , and you have to go inside the house from the sliding windows to go to the toilet . About the intruder , again , I'm very sorry about this issue ... in fact we are not used to get some rovers in this residency , but this kind of things can happend , especially if you forget to close one window ( in this case , it was the bathroom windows ) . On Moorea , the thieves will never break one house to enter inside , but if it's open , they call it " opportunity " . A Moorea Dream
After seeing Society Islands by cruise last year, we wanted to come back to French Polynesia and experience more of one island in particular – Moorea. The island is simply the most beautiful place I have ever seen. We stayed 9 nights at this charming waterfront villa and found it the perfect place to call home for our stay. The location is fantastic, on the Northwest side of the island with at least 80’ of waterfront all to yourself. The Villa is located in a nice little community and the property itself is surprisingly big. The best part of this Villa is the privacy – it’s very quiet and private. I rarely heard any neighbors. It was so enjoyable to simply sit on the covered patio or in the lounge chairs and just look out at the lagoon. The view is breathtaking! We cooked for ourselves the majority of the time, as the kitchen has all of the appliances and dishes you need (I recommend provisioning at the Champion store by the ferry). Clement was very helpful during check-in and helped me rent a SUP board for our stay. Overall the Villa was very comfortable, private, quiet, and in a great location. I do need to mention the only negative we experienced at the Villa was bugs (not many mosquitos, but there were a few roaches and some other small bugs inside), which is to be expected being in the tropics. The geckos seemed to do a pretty good job of keeping the bugs out of the inside most of the time. With that said, I still give this Villa a 5 star rating as I think it has everything to offer to enjoy and experience the island of Moorea!

About the bugs , we treat all our properties every 2 month ( we can't do it more because of logical ecological problems) , but as we are in Polynesia , and as the villa is located in a very big yard , I can't assure you that you will not see any bugs during your stay :) . Tiahura Beach
Emplacement exceptionnel devant le lagon et dans un lieu au calme (éloigné de la route principale). Villa ouverte vers l'extérieur (grandes baies) et spacieuse. Certaines pièces pourraient être rafraichies (sdb).

Best vacation ever!
From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were in paradise. We were picked up at the ferry by Sharleen, who made us feel welcome and helped us settle in. The location is perfect and very private. The water looks just like the pictures on the website. The layout of the house was perfect for us, with two air conditioned bedrooms (AC a necessity for sleeping), two bathrooms, a living room we never used (as we were always outside) and a kitchen with everything you need (coffee maker, microwave, etc.). There is a clothes washer (no dryer) and if you hang the clothes on the line they dry quickly. The wifi worked really well, which was nice since the we're not fluent in French and The TV seemed to have all French language channels. We spent most of our time hanging out on the back porch, on the lounge chairs in the yard or kayaking in the two that are provided. There is a convenience store on the main road (5 min. walk) which has just about everything you need. We rented a car for a few days from Avis at the Intercontinental (20 minute walk) to take the ride around the island (2 hours) and up to Belvedere, but were to content to hang out at the house most of the time. There are several restaurants within walking distance (Intercontinental, Holy Steak House) along with a few places that are open certain nights. If you're into yoga, take a lesson from Sharleen, who is fantastic. Clement (owner) couldn't have been more helpful and answered all our questions in a timely manner. We didn't experience one problem during our visit. If you want a big resort, stay at the Intercontinental, Hilton, etc. and pay $800.+ a night and hang out with all the tourists. If you want a real taste of Moorea, stay here and enjoy a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

Perfect house on the perfect island
This house is absolutely amazing! Even though there are other houses around, it was very private. Clement, our host, was very friendly and helpful. He met us at the ferry dock when we arrived in Moorea, drove us to a grocery store, showed us around the property and the surrounding amenities - there are several restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. Full amenities were available to us - a kitchen, bath, 2 bedrooms, washing machine and 2 kayaks for us to paddle around the lagoon. And when we had to return to the ferry dock to go back to Papeete, Clement met us at the house and drove us back to the ferry. If ever we get an opportunity to visit Moorea again, we will definitely look to stay here again.
