Superbe maison avec vue imprenable
Cette magnifique maison située sur les hauteurs à Coromandel est idéale. Elle est spacieuse, très bien équipée et la vue est magnifique. Bernard est au petit soin et toujours prêt à rendre service. Il est très prévenant et toujours souriant. Nous nous sommes déplacés essentiellement à pieds. Les plages de St François, Pointe Coton , Trou d'Argent etc.. sont un peu loin pour ceux qui ne marcheraient. Il y a toujours moyen d'y aller en bus. Les déplacements à pieds restent un vrai plaisir à travers tous ces superbes paysages. Seul bémol, il manque un fond de cuisine avec un peu d'huile, de sel, de sucre, une éponge etc...

Tout était parfait!
Arrivés a Rodrigues, le changement avec Maurice est radical! La maison se trouve en haut de l île, et la température un peu plus fraîche fait un bien fou pour passer de bonne nuit! Depuis la maison , la vue sur le lagon les pieds dans la piscine, les voisins et les aides de maison de tellement gentils. A 19h c est le calme et ça fait un bien fou! Pas de bruit, de musique, le repos! Tout était fourni dans la maison, l équipement neuf et bien plus qu il en faut! En voiture la maison se trouve a 10min des plages du sud et de l est de l île! Un paradis! Nous sommes répartis avec de magnifiques souvenirs pleins la tête!

Traumhaft!!!
Wir haben im Januar 2014 4 wunderbare Tage in diesem schönen Haus verbracht! Das Haus liegt in den Bergen mit traumhaften Blick über die Lagune. Durch die Lage in den Bergen weht ein angenehmes Lüftchen, das in der Hitze wirklich angenehm ist. Das Haus ist sehr schön eingerichtet und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen angenehmen aufenthalt benötigt. Sogar mit mehr als genug :-) Die Einrichtung ist sehr geschmackvoll! Die Betten sind sehr bequem und der kleine Swimmingpool bietet eine angenehme abkühlung.
Bernard, der das Haus betreut, ist ausserordentlich nett und hilfsbereit, immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht! Vielen, vielen Dank für alles!!! Wir werden sicherlich wiederkommen :-)

Disappointed
Having booked blindly through the internet at the last moment at peak season just after New Year we weren t expecting the best place on the island. However, we were definitely disappointed.
First the pros - The house is nicely constructed, well equipped with microwave, nice coffee machine etc. Beds and furnishings nice as well including the shower.Not far from the nicest beaches on the island (between St Francis and Ebony Morouk)
Cons - Unfotunately more of these - The website description is disingenuous at best, dishonest at worst. "All the comforts of home including satellite tv and internet" . Well yes strictly speaking satellite tv - 4 local Mauritian channels apparently - one of which occasionally showed BBC. We only got 2 channels to work. When arriving we were told that we have to pay for the internet and the only instructions we had were to go to Mauritian Telecom office in Port Mathurin to buy credit. After the 3rd unsuccessful trip to to Port Mathurin to try to resolve this we gave up. (Reasons being - Office closed/we didn t have the telephone number of the house or the serial number of the decoder/then Mauritius telecom didn t think the telephone number was the right one despite me calling my wife on it in front of the sales staff etc) I understand if you feel the need to charge for services , but that should be made clear in advance on the advertisement, and at least some basic instructions provided if you are marketing "wifi like at home". Anyway, we didnt go to Rodrigues to watch TV and surf the internet anyway, so it wasn t too big a deal.
Other problems - The altitude on the website is listed as 100 metres. No way - it seems like we were almost at the islands highest point (398 metres) . I have subsequently checked on google earth and the house altitude is 297 metres. This makes a massive difference as we were continually swathed in cloud and rain, whilst further down the hill it was always sunny. It is obviously always like that too as the entire house smells of mould, almost suffocatingly so every time a cupboard or kitchen drawer is opened.
To complete our moaning - Dried urine all over the toilet seat when we arrived, tea towels which looked like they had been used to wash the car , chopping board which was black with mould, frying pan still full of old oil. Basically the drawers were stuffed with so many plates etc you could hardly get them out, although we had to wash everything each time before we used them.
I feel a bit bad about writing such a negative review as the owners have obviously invested time and money in equipping the house and making it nice, and the local staff were very helpful whenever we pointed out any problems, but it really was a shambles . I notice that the house has just been finished - maybe the rough edges will be smoothed out, although with the high altitude and exposure to the southern wind I would struggle to recommend it anyway.

we are very sorry for the internet which did not work. We will remove it from the website. The telecom sold us something which cannot work as there is no Antenna around...
As for the height of the house, nobody knows the height of his property in Rodrigues, we do not have the modern instruments to measure- nobody ever did as it does not seem necessary...? the entire Island is made of hills and we all build away from the coast to avoid the heat and mosquitoes.. We are talking about small hills, 5 min by car from the beach..!
The weather changes as everywhere in the world; We have rain; if not the Island would not be so green and full of flowers... But mostly it is sunny and warm ; And so at L'Espérance too, of course.
The house is newly build with new furniture, good quality beds and mattresses.
