Carstairs House is an superb three storey townhouse packed with character and style. Located just a couple of streets back from the sea, it has a fabulous location in the quaint fishing village of Cellardyke in the East Neuk.
With five bedrooms, two lounges, a stunning formal dining room, three bathrooms and two garden areas, it's the perfect place for a family get together or a long weekend by the sea with friends. Carstairs House is a quirky, comfortable and charming home from home.
Carstairs House is offers a fantastic amount of space, with each room beautifully styled to be comfortable and homely. Fabulous family stay in the East Neuk of Fife
A great house for a family holiday. 8 of us were celebrating our Dads birthday. We cooked in and ate out. The house is well kitted out - both kitchen supplies and bedrooms. The setting is beautiful with lots of walking available as well as plenty bars restaurants and cafes.
(Only suggestion would be a mirror in the 2nd floor bathroom and a teapot)

Comfy, spacious and stylish…
Lovely family Christmas in the spacious, tastefully decorated and super comfy Carstairs House. Great location for local amenities including the brilliant and award winning Wee Chippy! And fantastic coastal walks. Loved it!

Fantastic, spacious home in Cellardyke.
Back in our favourite place to relax and unwind, Anstruther. Our visit this time was enhanced by the character and facilities provided at Carstairs House. Turn left and you are a few minutes walk to Cellardyke, turn right and you are a few minutes walk to Anstruther.
The house is beautifully decorated with all the mod cons you could want while retaining it’s original features. The garden to the front has a charming ‘wilderness’ theme and the rear garden is a great space to socialise or relax (as long as it’s not raining!)
The upper levels offer spectacular sea views and all bedrooms are spacious with cosy beds and high quality linen. The dining room really is the jewel in the crown, with ample space for all the family including the dogs.
We love the Anstruther Fish Bar and the Fortune House Chinese Takeaway. The Haven has the traditional pub/eatery atmosphere and dogs are welcome. The local butchers/bakers are not to be missed and the Waterfront provides a delicious menu. Also, new to us this year was ‘The New’ Ship Inn which has been transformed from a traditional ‘pub’ to a classy wine/ale bar. The Bank Hotel is another great place to eat and drink.
Thank you for a great week away from Sunny East Kilbride. We’ll be back.

Wonderful weekend
Loved Carstairs House. It was spacious and had everything we needed. It was immaculately clean. The beds linen, pillows and towels. felt luxury and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. Great size dining room and lounge.
We found the small sitting room ideal for offloading coats and shoes and the children's bits and pieces.
Loved the sea views from the top floors.
Plenty to do in surrounding area. Could have happily stayed for a fortnight!
Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Amazing holiday house - perfect for family gatherings!!
Thank you so much Carstairs House - we absolutely loved our long weekend in Anstruther, and you were the perfect place to stay! There were 9 of us - 2 families of 4 and a granny in tow and there was lots of room for us all. The bedrooms are so spacious with very comfy beds and lovely fresh white linen. We couldn’t fault the decor or furnishings throughout - just all so tastefully done and the whole place has a lovely homely feel to it! Being over 3 floors was brilliant as we didn’t feel on top of each other and the kids tended to use the downstairs living room which meant the adults got the huge upstairs sitting room with amazing views over the sea to enjoy in peace!! Absolutely loved the large dining room though for family dinners ..one being delicious Fish and Chips from just down the road. Thanks to pittenweem properties too - so helpful when we had couple of silly questions!!
Would totally recommend this house for a home away from home (although now I want fancy wallpaper in my bathroom…and a view to wake up to!)

Gorgeous views and lots of room for everyone
We stayed as a large family group; house was amazing with plenty of space for everyone.
House: Before booking I hadn't really appreciated the bonus of two livingrooms, but between us we had four kids, aged 10 and under and it was a perfect to have another space to go to for quiet times. The kids declared it 'the best house for hide and seek!' House was really well-appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. Pre-dinner drinks in the upstairs livingroom looking at the gorgeous views and then dinner in the big dining room. Perfect!
Location: Having stayed in other villages along the coast, this was our first stay in Cellardyke and would happily recommend. House is an easy walk down to Anstruther harbour for coffees, shopping, and the famous chippy - lots of buzz. We drove to St Andrews one day (recommend Janetta's for ice cream). We also jumped on the bus to Elie easily for Sunday lunch at the Ship Inn, which is a must for great food and beach location. For the brave, you can swim in the Cellardyke tidal pool too which is a walk away, which some of us managed in the mornings!
Summary: a fab weekend break for a large group where you are not all on top of each other. We are booking with friends for a birthday later this year.
