This RUSTIC retreat is a wonderful escape from modern amenities and will allow you to get back to nature in a very private, magnificent mountain setting. 5000 ft elevation with 360 degree views of the Smoky Mountains. Ample hiking trails, easily accessible to Smoky Mountain National Park. After a day of hiking, relax in the hot tub or refresh in the private, rustic SPRING FED pool. The home is older, VERY RUSTIC and does not include modern amenities - no air conditioning. SPECIAL NOTE: due to the high elevation and design of the home (lots of glass), it is not suitable for small children or the elderly. The grounds include a nature trail, accompanied by a hand made rail fence, that leads to the private fish pond. The road to the house is GRAVEL but in good condition. Natural beauty...

Heaven on Earth
By far THE MOST BEAUTIFUL place to stay! From the beautiful stone work to the unique architecture this home does not disappoint. Very well stocked and very clean leaving nothing to do but relax and take it all in. Our personal favorite is the view from the bedroom and the pool deck that leaves you feeling like you're on top of the world! The sunrises and sunsets are breath taking and we've NEVER seen the beauty of the stars like we did there during our stay. We truly cannot wait to visit again!!!!

Idyllic Stay in the Mountains
This place was astounding. My husband and I spent the first portion of our honeymoon here. Every part of the house holds beautiful views—the architecture and the mountains working together seamlessly. From the loft you can see the stars at night. From the room nearest the pool you can see gorgeous sunrises. The hot tub was a pleasant way to end the day. My husband and I ventured into town and found Sutton and Sons Antique Mall—a treasure trove of antiques, including a great selection of records that we were able to enjoy during our stay. We also visited Different Drummer Pottery–meeting Terance and Caden, father and son artisans of the family business. We were treated to lovely conversation and a tour of the studio. We expected to find pottery but found art instead, adding to the magic of our stay. A well stocked and beautiful kitchen, truly a chef’s delight, with an oven, stove top, outdoor grill, AND a built in wood burning grill carved out in the kitchen. The only thing you’ll need is containers and bags for storage, along with your selection of preferred herbs and spices, and your favorite knives (a small selection available, but a little dull from use). They provided a grinder for both salt and pepper, as well as oil. We brought water with us expecting well water, but were pleased to find the water was fresh, good for drinking and making coffee. The beds were clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed seeing deer and smaller wildlife from the windows as we lounged in the mornings. I was nervous about being able to get to the place safely because of all the warnings about the type of car that could handle steep driveways, but my road SUV with only front wheel drive handled it just fine. If you’re looking for the peace and respite of the mountains, along with the beauty and architectural wonder of something outside of the standard mountain cabin, look no further—this has above and beyond all the comforts of home. It truly is a special place that we look forward to visiting again.

Truly unique retro-modern home with mountain views
Located near Waynesboro, NC close to the Cataloochee ski area, this house is amazing - and truly unique in a worn rustic retro modern way. The use of floor to ceiling windows captures the view of the valley from the living room, kitchen and master bedroom. It was wonderful to wake up and watch the sunrise over the valley without even getting out of bed! There are two decks, one off the living room and one off the master bedroom which encompasses the in-ground pool and fire pit. The hot tub however is not connected to either deck and one must descend the pool deck (no railings) to the ground and reach it in a few steps. It is located right under the master bedroom window. The kitchen is equipped ok and lots of linens supplied. We loved this house however there are a few things to be aware of... the first 1) is the road leading to this house. The description is accurate! You must have a vehicle that can handle something akin to off-roading! AND, I would definitely not want to do it in a heavy rainfall as the narrow road is dirt and gravel and would be slippery in the steep ascents and descents. But, it was exhilarating to drive in dry weather! Some of the switchbacks required a bit of maneuvering. Due to the difficulty of the road, we tended to stay put and NOT venture out into town. 2) lighting at night in the house is very poor. Bring your own book light if you want to read. 3)Definitely not a house for small children or people with balance problems(large windows, no deck rails, open pool, steps down into the kitchen and sunken living room area, steep hillside. 4) We rented in a November with exceptionally warm days and cool nights. The house warmed up quite a bit in the loft area and master bedroom during the day. I suspect that this house would be very hot in the summer without air-conditioning. We noted fans in the closet. 5) Renters are required to take out their own trash to the town dump which is about five miles once reaching the main road through Waynesboro.

Amazing! The views are spectacular!!!
The house was beautiful, with amazing views from every room in the house. The master bedroom view of the sunrise each morning was breathtaking. The house was equipped with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Maggie Vally is very close and had great shops and restaurants There is also a Walmart and supermarket not too far away. We visited the Biltmore during our stay which was about a 50min drive from the house. The roads are very well maintained but I do recommend AWD or 4WD for the drive to the house. Our stay was everything we had hoped it would be! My husband and I are looking forward to coming back next year!

Sky high treat!
Fantastic home with a Frank Lloyd Wright flair. The owner/renter is very good AND honest with her description. Read it carefully. She points out why it may not be the place for you in very clear terms. Refreshing to see...but her description was exactly what we were looking for ! I think a history of the house and who built it when should be included. :) Its a design we want to know more about. She takes good care of it and the pool is amazing and COLD but perfect after hiking in the Aug/ Sept. heat. We spent a lot of time in it. Stock up before you arrive. You won't want to get back in your car , steep roads but we navigated in LOW gear easily. No problems.

Perfect Relaxing and Romantic Getaway
I booked this rental as a birthday gift for my husband, and he absolutely loved it. You definitely need 4-wheel drive to get to the cabin, and at times you wonder if you are going the right way - but trust your GPS, it takes you right to it. We had an absolute wonderful time, and we cant wait to book this property again.

Simply Breathtaking
We booked this trip months in advance, as a "getaway" for me and my husband. The view every morning was spectacular. The town was only a short drive away for fun activities and cute shops. The home itself is secluded, which is fantastic however there is a road that runs just before the house- where (if you have the occasional driver) they can see you from the road into the master bedroom. Rarely any drivers during our stay, though, which was nice. There are three beds, however only the master is able to be "closed off" to the very beautiful open floor plan. which means the other two beds (located in the loft area) are open to the rest of the home.

Great Escape
We had a wonderful time in this rental. The views were amazing with all the open windows. It felt like we were in our own little world. The town it’s located in was just as charming. I highly recommend this place if your looking for a little escape. The only down part was most of the leaves were gone by the time we arrived. Wishing we would have went a little earlier in the season.
