Hawthorn Cottage
A truly stunning cottage and beautiful gardens surrounding the whole property. The place was clean and well stocked. Beds and sofas were very comfortable. Would definitely come again.

A PRECIOUS GEM ON THE EMERALD ISLE
As we arrived at this beautiful cottage, we were blown away, the most perfect place to relax, unwind and chill. We loved the modern touches mixed with traditional and quirky features. Without a doubt the best accomodation we have ever stayed in, Deirdre the host is extremely helpful and the booking was easy to manage.
Our son had the whole top of the cottage to himself, with an open plan bedroom and en suite bathroom, it was quite an adventure for him.
We will definately be returning in the near future. Thanks Deirdrie, your beautiful cottage is awesome .

Beautiful country cottage
The cottage is beautiful, furnished to a high standard, and set in a picturesque garden. It feels remote, and yet is 10 minute drive to shops and local amenities, and plenty of activities for a young family within 30 minute drive.
The timer for the water heater wasn't set which meant no hot water, and a freezing shower each morning. As the owner is based abroad, she wasn't able to address the issue, and disappointingly didn't reply to acknowledge or apologise when contacted. Otherwise I would happily rate this property 5/5.

Fabulous Setting
An absolutely fabulous cottage nestled in a lovely rural setting yet only a few km's from all amenities and services. Very clean and well maintained. The cottage itself has kept all of its traditional character while at the same time having all modern appliances as well. The rugged walls, fireplace and thatched roof are testament to this traditional nature. The owner left no stone unturned in decorating the cottage and these features also add to it's character, feel and experience. An ideal place to relax and chill out and you will be taken away from the hustle and bustle of modern day to day life. An ideal location too for travelling on day trips given its central location and anyone wanting to explore any corner of Ireland are ideally located here. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and highly recommended!

Absolutely Beautiful
This cottage has EVERYTHING you could want or need. The area is beautiful and you will thoroughly enjoy having your cup of coffee each morning listening and watching the birds. So peaceful and relaxing. The cottage is beautifully decorated and so very welcoming.
You cannot go wrong with this place. When you look at the pictures, it is EXACTLY as portrayed.
You have options for entertainment at the local pubs in Mountrath and Abbeyleix. Both are convenient and have lots of charm.

Beautiful place in a quiet setting.
Beautifully furnished with all modern conveniences whilst retaining its historic feel. Loved the warm floors and the attractive garden. Very well placed for all the significant towns in Laois and Offally.

Stunningly restored thatched Irish cottage.
We rented the house as a base for attending Electric Picnic and so we didn't get to experience the full benefit of staying in such a gorgeous cottage. It has all the mod cons you need combined with the traditional cottage. Underfloor heating, peat stoves, lovely tranquil garden and total seclusion. We will be back for a proper stay the next time.

Cottage paradise in Irish midlands
We had a very hospitable welcome to Hawthorn Cottage, an absolutely stunning thatched cottage in the midlands. The cottage was warm and cosy, with all the mod cons like a dishwasher and laundry room. We enjoyed the comfy surrounds and pleasant gardens. We won’t forget our time spent in this special place. Thank you.

Chaumière spacieuse en pleine nature
Maison spacieuse et bien équipée mais un peu loin pour le ravitaillement, gros problème sur la literie, matelas à ressorts à changer.

Thank you for the 4 bubble review. Yes, the cottage is located in the countryside, which gives it unenviable privacy. And the local town is only 3 miles drive away but maybe that is too far for some. But I do try and make this plain in the description so guests know what to expect on arrival. I'm sorry to hear you had a problem with bedding. You should have mentioned this during your stay and give us the opportunity to do something about it. I'm not sure which bedding/matterss you refer to. The bed in the dairy room is brand new this season. I've slept on this myself and it's very comfortable. The bed in the red room is only a few years old and the matterss was changed last year. Again I've had freinds and many guests sleep in both rooms and everyone had a good nights sleep. The twin room beds are the least slept in beds (and usually children) and I've not had any complaints about those either. So not really sure why your comment says the there is a big problem on bedding. Maybe you and your family prefer a very soft mattress. Hope the rest of you stay was enjoyable. Best wishes Dee.

This is an idyllic cottage in the middle of Ireland. Great base for exploring the middle of the country.
