An idillic Tobago paradise stay!
I rented Eagles Bases Cottage and Villa for the (U.S.)Thanksgiving holiday; 9 family/friends and I enjoyed this amazing property(plenty of house for us!).
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the most beautiful view I’d ever seen. The house sits high on a hill and boasts spectacular views. Whether day or night, you will be in awe of the bodies of water and lush green. Soraya and Colin met us and gave us all the information we needed to get started with our stay.
The house was great. Eclectic may describe it best. A mix of modern conveniences with nicely appointed Caribbean flare. Colorful, thoughtful furniture- all very functional. Was happy to discover that the pictures online were exactly like what I was viewing in person. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which was nice given our group. Fully stocked kitchen (tons of pots, cooking utensils, pans, bowls, glassware, etc.) - was pleased to see they even thought of providing spring water. Housekeeping was very nice and attentive.
We spent most of our time at/in the pool and common areas. My brother loves to grill so he grilled for us quite a bit. We laughed, played music (can hook up to their surround system
via Sonos), cooked, ate, sunbathed, and swam in the gorgeous pool area- a memorable Thanksgiving.
I travel quite a bit - especially for work- and am sometimes apprehensive of what the destination will be on the other side; this was a pleasant surprise that all was as described.
Taxi service, excursion services, supermarkets, restaurants and other conveniences are close by. My family is from Tobago so no surprise to me that people were refreshingly nice and friendly (oh, and super helpful!). The house is well secured. The grounds are nicely kept. We all felt safe.
Only one small critique- bring insect repellant. There were days/nights that the bugs were biting as is common in the Caribbean. I packed citronella candles because of another review I had read prior to my stay; the reviewer was spot on. Since it is a beautiful open concept, when leaving all doors open to the front of the property (sliding glass doors facing pool), expect a few bugs to make their way inside. Our remedy was to keep our bedroom doors closed as much as possible. (Fly strips around the property may also be helpful- just a thought).
In summary, amazing stay. If you rent this property, you won’t be disappointed.
