Outstanding

We stayed here as a family of 4 in August 2019. Manolis is an outstanding host. He is respectful of your time an space but extremely helpful and goes beyond expectations with the welcome food and attentiveness. The villa itself is immaculate with full air conditioning in every room, fully equipped kitchen and a good-sized private pool. The villa is off the beaten track but is all the better for it. The nearest village Vrysses is a 5-minute drive with shops and restaurants. You are only 10-15 drive from the beach as well which is full of restaurants and bars. If you are looking for a quiet holiday away from the crowds, this is where you should go. We have booked again for next year.

Relaxing holiday on a beautiful island

Manolis was the most hospitable owner we have met. He is kind, informative and helpful and the food his mother made was very tasty. Manolis's Welcome Pack was more like a supermarket shop than the usual water, milk and bread that other villas supply. The villa is set in a small quiet village and allows guests full privacy and quietness. The king size bed is very comfortable and the towels & bed linen is changed every three days. The pool is a good size though a little cold but certainly refreshing and children would love it - there is a lilo and large rubber ring provided plus a beach umbrella and securing base for the beach. There is a beach at Georgeouplis, about 15 mins away though we preferred to travel the 30 mins to Almirida, where the sea was calmer and warmer. We had great meals at the beach tavernas, especially at Makis. There are monastries and churches to visit and it's worth travelling the 40 mins to see Chania and Rethymno (the Fortress is definitely worth walking around, 4 Euro entry). Crete is a beautiful island and we were impressed with the friendliness of the islanders and the amazing countryside and views.

Fantastisch

Lange waren wir nicht so erholt, wie nach diesem Urlaub. Ein wundervoller Ort zum Entspannen, sehr geschmackvoll angelegt, ein tolles Haus und ein super Gastgeber, der uns immer wieder mit kretischen Köstlichkeiten überraschte und Fragen super schnell beantwortete. Lieben Dank Manolis, dass der Urlaub so wunderschön war. Kreta mit seinen liebenswerten Bewohnern ist uns auch zum 3. Mal in wirklich toller Erinnerung geblieben und wir kommen sehr gern auch ein 4. Excellent accueil de notre propriétaire..Très attentionné,disponible..Sa mère et lui meme nous avaient préparé un repas de bienvenue avec plats typiques et boissons!! La villa est magnifique et particulièrement propre..Rien ne manque au niveau des équipements..Cette villa et Manolis,son propriétaire,mériterait 6 étoiles si cela était possible..

A beautiful villa high in the hills close to Chania

An amazing villa with a generous and friendly host who was there to help at any time be it in person or by phone or text. The pool is beautiful and the village is solitude at its best! We had a rental car which is essential unless you want to sit tight and live at the villa full time for your holiday which is easily possible.we had dinners down in Vyrses and a trip to Vamos to the medical clinic that Malonis arranged- also a nice place to get great coffees and cakes on the main road of the town. We liked the one on the lower corner! We were not able to enjoy Chania town but we will be back again one day. My wife had a knee op in Athens do the crutches did limit us. Thankyou for your gifts and full fridge. Sorry I could not drink the Raki! Maybe next time with honey.... Very many thanks again. Mike and Valerie Evans

Perfect Villa in a beautiful location.

We have just returned from a fantastic week staying in Villa Maria.We haven't ever experienced such care and attention to detail as provided by Manolis, the owner of this property. From helping us to find the property , to leaving an extremely generous welcome pack of provisions( including a beautiful bottle of his family's olive oil) he has been so kind and hospitable. The villa was cleaned part way through our stay and he left us a gorgeous moussaka( made by his mother) and some of the most delicious chocolate ice cream, made locally. Our children loved the pool and the visiting cat! The villa is immaculately clean and has everything you need for a really special holiday. We visited a number of places Manolis recommended, including Hora Sfakion and Illingas beach,Lake Kournas, Georgiopolis beach.....all were stunning! We can also highly recommend the botanical Gardens of Crete. The only negative was having to come back home! We would highly recommend this villa to anyone .

Excelent place nature view and privacy.

In this villa you can feel mountains air and nature symphony. Friendly Mr. Manolis care help us to feel like at home. My family dreems to came back here again .

Wonderful Family Villa, Location and Host

This is a lovely villa, perfect for a family of 4, which is situated in the foothills of the White Mountains within very easy reach of both the north and south of the island. Manolis, the owner, couldn't have been more welcoming; we arrived to a full fridge and were treated to lots of lovely food prepared by his family. Manolis also gave us lots of recommendations for places to visit and things to do. The villa is well equipped, tastefully decorated and has plenty of space both inside and out. (We were there in late October and had both lovely sunny weather and dramatic thunderstorms, so we made use of all the facilities!) The village is quiet and there are plenty of facilities in the nearby town of Vrysses. The villa itself is set above a grove of olive trees and has fabulous views of the mountains as they reach down towards the coast. The sunsets are amazing. We visited Chania's Old Town, Lake Kournas, beaches on the north of the island, the Imbros Gorge, Sfakia and Knossos and still found time to swim in the pool and use the barbeque. A car is essential as the village is not accessible by bus, but it is easy to find the villa using Google Maps. I couldn't recommend this villa highly enough and I hope we will be able to return.

Perfect in Every Way

5 Star doesn't really do justice to staying in this villa, it should be 5*+++++ The villa itself is spotless and very comfortable. The pool and surrounding garden areas are lovely to relax in. There you can sit in the sun or shade. There is a BBQ with fuel provided, such a lovely thought. Manolis the owner, was so helpful and always answered any queries by return. We have never stayed in a Villa with so much care and attention to detail and the gifts of food from his parents was quite delicious, we felt very spoilt. The Home produced Olive Oil was the best I have ever tasted, also the Raki was the best The fact that it was cleaned and clean bedding every 3/4 days was another lovely thought. I liked the position of the Villa in a small village in the White Mountains, but within easy reach of town for shopping, the beach and Tavernas. A short walk into the village is lovely and you can stop at the bar for a beer or two. We did like the Taverna that Minolas recommended near the Lake. There I had the best Fried Aubergines. I have ever tasted, other places didn't come anywhere close. It was the best Taverna we visited. But if you want something closer we went to Katrina's Kiosk at Krapi Basin, turn left on the High Road down from the village. Good simple food cooked to order, so be prepared to wait a while. We have never been made to feel so welcome and Manolis is such a brilliant host, it all makes for Super Holidays. We would defiantly like to visit again and maybe next time stay a few days in Chania and then move on to the villa. I can only say a huge Thank You to Manolis for making us feel so welcome, it meant a lot.
