This was our second stay at this cottage. We really liked the surrounding tropical foliage and privacy. Listen to the birds on the deck. Hot tub was nice and in the woods. You can re-enter through the bathroom shower, novel idea. Enjoyed the wood stove for heat, although there was an electric heater. A spacious and comfy cottage. About 30 minutes to Hilo. Good location to explore the east side of the island, the recent eruption and new lava flow areas. About two hour to Kona on the west side of Hawaii. Big screen TV with satellite and DVD player. The owners, Brenda & Tom Carson were great. We stayed nine nights this time.

Cute, cozy cabin close to Volcano national park
This cabin is beautiful and was more spacious than I was expecting. The hot tub was lovely. There are robes to wear and the kitchen is fully equipped and even had spare tupawear boxes which were useful. It is a 5 minute drive to volcano national park so a car is a must. The cabin is completely surrounded by trees which gives it a very hidden away feel. There is a very small village near by but only 2 or 3 places to eat so options are a little limited or you could cook in the cabin. Be warned that it does rain a lot in this area but we enjoyed listening to the rain on the huge windows in the very comfy bed. Would highly recommend for a short break.

Picture Perfect
We stayed here for two nights during very rainy weather and at a time when Volcano National Park was closed, so we were up against making the most of this picture -perfect cottage. It is attractively furnished and extremely comfortable. Although the instructions said that the internet was connected using a cord, it actually has wireless internet which was quite good. It was nice to find the cottage stocked with all the basics you need to cook a meal. The fireplace is a nice touch and would be lovely on a cold night. The deck out the back would have been lovely to sit on but it rained the whole time we were there- given how much it rains in the area, it would have been nice if the owners covered the deck. The area of Volcano in which it is situated is very pretty to walk around but it is necessary to have a car if you are staying here.

Sweet Cottage near Hawaii Volcanos National Park
We really enjoyed this sweet, peaceful cottage in the rain forest within 5 miles to Volcano National Park. The bed is comfortable, the shower lovely and the hot tub was wonderful to soak in - especially in the morning with the birds singing. We even soaked in the tub during the rain! This would have been a 5 star review, but the kitchen could be better appointed (sharp knives, storage containers) and there should be something to hang a robe or towel by the hot tub.

A Real Gem
This cottage is a gem in the rain forest just 5 minutes from Hawaii Volcano National Park. I can't imagine staying anywhere else. There is a kitchen, living, dining area with very comfortable king bed. WiFi worked great with our Kindles, flat screen TV with HBO and DVR too. There is a hot tub and washer & dryer. We stayed 2 nights so we could spend time in the park and hike the trails.

Charming cottage stay!
Beautiful location in the rainforest. Very secluded and private. Cottage was well appointed and hot tub was great to soak in after a day of hiking and snorkeling.

Dawn chorus of apapanes
The name "Hidden Cottage" is apt in that the surrounding bush is so dense that the proximity of human neighbours is not obvious nor a concern when using the glass-walled shower stall. The dawn chorus of apapanes feeding from flowers in the trees replaces the need for an alarm clock. The cottage is an A frame built on an open plan with kitchen, dining area, living room, and bedroom all interconnected; the bathroom does have a door. The wood stove provided some overnight heat and the bedding was so plentiful that even though morning temperatures were cool (14 C) we needed no other source of warmth other than a hoodie or cardigan when getting up. Access to a washer and dryer was very convenient. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with pots, pans, crockery, and appliances. The only issues we had were the absence of a toaster and insufficient lighting in the living room to be able to read; apparently both will be rectified. The location is very accessible to the village of Volcano, the HI Volcano National Park, and Hilo.

Delightful Paradise Hideaway
Aloha, My wife and I stayed at Volcano Hidden Cottage and was very pleased with the accommodations provided. There was no hassle finding the place nor any complaints with our stay. It was just outside Volcano National Park and just a few minutes drive away. We drove all over the island and found this place quite convenient to see most of what the Big Island had to offer. The drives were sometimes long, but the sights were spectacular and beautiful. Now my wife says she wants to live on the Big Island and I can't argue with her because I have the same thoughts. I wish I could have stayed much longer at the Volcano Hidden Cottage, but it would be my choice if we ever visit there again. It is perfect for two people and the price is reasonable.
