Want a scary Savannah experience? Then stay here! (In other words, avoid this place.)
This apartment was clearly not "newly" renovated. The floors were scratched and with holes, the cabinets were dented, and there was MOLD. There are moldy vents in the kitchen and in the bedrooms. But worse than that, there was mold on the walls in the bedroom.
During our stay, it rained for an hour, and we saw it dripping from the ceiling. Clearly, we could not use that 2nd bedroom. We did not want our daughter breathing in mold, especially because there weren't any windows for ventilation. And we also couldn't use the 3rd bedroom for 2 safety concerns. First, there was mold there too. And second, there was a balcony door in that room that did not lock. That is a SERIOUS safety concern. Because the door leads to a 2nd-floor balcony (easy to access from the street), we were scared of sleeping in the apartment and leaving our belongings there. We barricaded the door, but that still wasn't sufficient and it prohibited us from using the actual balcony. Another safety concern is that there is only 1 smoke detector in the entire apartment which is surely a safety code violation.
There is no way in the world the apartment was newly renovated. And it was not recently furnished. It looked like the owners threw in old furniture they bought from random yard sales. The mattresses are gross (I have photos). When we removed the sheets, we saw that the surfaces were stained and even ripped. They were also lumpy, meaning that they were used for God knows how long. It was gross. As mentioned above, we couldn't use one of the bedrooms due to mold so my husband slept on the couch while I shared the master bedroom with my toddler. My husband ended up covered in bug bites after sleeping on the nasty dark brown and stained couch. (Once again, I have photos of his bug-bitten body.) The furniture was mismatched. For example, the kitchen table had 2 chairs and then 2 high-top stools. The stools were as high as the table so it was impossible to sit in them at the table. I suspect the random stools were found on the street, along with the stained mattresses.
My mother found the apartment depressing. One room was barricaded in, the other had a strong smell of mold and no windows, and the furniture was a disaster.
The building is a beautiful old brownstone that was converted into apartments. The apartment above and the one below are used for rentals so expect noise. The people below were partying and smoking skunk weed. The guests above were preparing for a wedding so they did pre- and post- wedding drinking in the apartment in heels and dress shoes. Because it is an old building, there is NO sound barrier between the apartments. If you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs and a sound machine.
The apartment is falsely advertised. While the bathrooms are new, the bedrooms have not been renovated, two have mold, two are dark, the furniture is sinful, and there are bugs. For the price, this place is a disgrace. I have photos of the mold, furniture, stained cabinets, water damage, and bug bites. Do NOT stay here.
