Cottage
This is a traditional 2 bedroomed cottage with oak beams, log fire, private garden and sea views from the first floor.
It is ideally suited to couples and families. The main bathroom is situated off the main bedroom and so guests in the second bedroom need to walk through the main bedroom to access the bath or shower. However the second bedroom has its own ensuite with a loo and basin. There is also a separate cloakroom downstairs.
On the doorstep is a beach, 2 pub, shops, post office and the beginning of beautiful coastal walks on the Roseland Peninsula. Within a short drive further lovely beaches with safe swimming, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing and further stunning walks and places of interest to visit. Ideal for all ages. A rare find
We are so glad we took on the recommendation to stay here from a friend, as the previous reviews don't do this place any justice.
To start with the cottage is a quaint and quirky with everything you need. There are 3 toilets, one shower room, and an open fire. There's a beautiful garden with a large seating area (great for BBQs and breakfast in the sun).
The place has great character with a spectacular morning view of the ocean which can be viewed from bed.
We used the cottage as a base for us and the dog. We spent most of the days walking, kayaking, swimming and fishing. It was lovely to come back to relax in the evening. The cottage is located directly on a walking path with leads you to various beaches and coves.

Lovely tranquil cottage with a stunning sea view
We had a lovely week in May in this beautiful quiet cottage in Portscatho. It was the perfect place to escape our busy lives and in such a stunning location. The cottage had everything we needed and we were really lucky with the weather so spent most mornings and evenings in the lovely garden. The bed was really comfortable and lovely to wake up to the sound of the waves. The location was great for us - straight onto the coastal walks and a stones throw away from the sea. The village pub has great food and we also enjoyed cooking fresh fish which we caught during the week.
We’d love to stay again and really liked the property. Absolutely love the sea view from the bedroom!
Thank you.

In great need of some TLC and a good clean
We stayed here during the half term week prior to lockdown 2.
There were 4 of us staying, 2 adults and 2 children and unfortunately I have to say the cottage was the worse thing about our week away.
Prior to booking the cottage I had been in contact with the owner Angela and the communication was excellent and gave me some comfort that there was flexibility around the booking if needed given the current climate.
After booking and paying the deposit, Angela contacted me to say that she was struggling with cleaners and prices had increased significantly since covid requirements had come into effect.
Meaning she was having to pay £100 every time the cottage had to be cleaned for guests.
This resulted in been asked to contribute half of the cleaning bill. I was ok about paying this as it gave me some assurance that the cottage would be cleaned well in advance of our stay.
Upon on arriving and walking into the cottage I can honestly say my heart sank, it was so drab and dirty!
We shared the place with so many spiders too.
There was a cleaning itinerary checklist for covid purposes on the side when we arrived, it was a prefilled form and hadn’t been dated to confirm the cottage had been cleaned in line with the requirements and whilst the basics like wiping the sides down had been done there wasn’t much that had been cleaned.
Given we were staying in late October / November you can’t guarantee the weather so it was wet and cold at times. Please don’t expect to get warm and dry your clothes here. There are 2 night storage heaters downstairs and they are the only ones that work but not the greatest.
Upstairs none of the heaters work in the bedrooms and they don’t look like they’ve done so for a long time. The back bedroom particularly is very damp around the window and this room is really cold.
We also noticed that all the electrical items had PAT testing stickers, all showing the next test was due April 2019.
During our stay Angela did contact me to say new guests were coming on the day we left and as it was Sunday the cleaners wouldn’t be coming in so could we leave the place tidy. Not sure how this works with covid requirements but also made me wonder if this was what had happened to us.
I did reply to Angela to flag concerns about the cleaning costs and how given the state it was in she would be disappointed to which she did say she’d get onto. Hopefully something will be sorted soon.
Cornwall and the local area is absolutely beautiful but sadly the cottage was a massive disappointment and i wouldn’t recommend staying here especially when there are so many other cottages nearby that look beautiful.

Great Cornwall Cottage
We had a great week in this cosy cottage. The location is absolutely wonderful, Portscatho is a very special place. The cottage was cosy and welcoming, the cute garden is a great place for tea in the sunshine. We would love to return.

Don’t touch with a barge pole - be warned.
This is the worst place I have ever stayed. It is absolutely filthy, I could write a message in the dust. It is only suitable, and I use that word loosely, for one bedroom to be used, don’t fall for the write up advising families could use this. I complained to the owner with a list of problems but they called me a liar, even though I have photographic evidence, please contact me if you would like to see the photos before you book this. The owner made a poor offer of a small refund (an admittance of knowing the state they are offering this property) but this never materialised as there was always a reason as to why the owner or her representative (who was her husband although they wanted us to believe he was somebody else and intimated his correspondence to me was in a legal capacity) was not available to deal with it all. They seem able to deal with new bookings though.
The stairs to the first floor have been equipped with a rope hand rail fixed to the wall. This hand rail is unsafe and on arrival at the cottage my husband was very lucky not to fall down the stairs when this rope came away from the wall. On closer inspection it was clear that the rope attachment to the wall had been repaired previously, It is clearly not fit for purpose and a more suitable repair needs to be made before someone is badly injured.
The Bathroom light above the sink does not work, when my husband plugged his toothbrush charger into the integral socket, on the right hand side of the light, he received a mild electric shock. Clearly we did not try to use the socket after that point but I fear for the safety of other guests that may expect this facility to work in accordance with good health and safety guidelines.
The electric socket to the left hand side of the bed in the master bedroom is unsafe. When I removed my phone charger from the socket towards the end of our stay this socket came away from the wall exposing the electrical wiring in the wall. This is an extreme hazard as I guess this is 240 volts. My concern here is for clients safety and although I am not technically trained I would hazard a guess that this could also become a fire risk.
We are not particularly large people but the bijou nature of both the bathroom and the downstairs toilets made for a very utilitarian experience. This was exacerbated by the general lack of cleanliness of these areas, the filthy light shade in the downstairs loo for example, which hits most adults of average height in the head as you enter the wee room, was a constant reminder of the general lack of any in-depth cleaning activities.
I have concerns over the general lack of cleaning in the property and I can only imagine that the cleaner is not given enough paid time to effect any semblance of a tidy, well looked after, holiday cottage.
The tone of the correspondence from the owner gives the impression of complete disregard for the thoughts, feelings and experiences of their paying clients in the enjoyment of the facility.
The four of us who stayed in the Cottage are reasonable, well educated individuals who understand that the nature of a 150 year old plus cottage will not be a 5 star hotel experience - In fact that is part of the charm of such a cottage.
In the case of our stay at this Cottage, my sister and her husband left after the first day because of her husbands asthmatic reaction to the uncleanliness of the property. They were lucky enough to find alternative accommodation on what you will know is the busiest time in Portscatho.
My husband and I persevered but left later in the week after the incident with the bedside socket.
My primary concern is for the safety of other guests that may stay at 26A.

Cosy retreat by the sea in delightful Portscatho
we loved the cosy cottage for a winter break with evenings spent by the log fire beautiful sea view from the very comfy bed and listening to and watching the sea was a delight. Literally right on the coastal path and very close to the friendly local pub and well stocked shop galleries and craft shops in pretty Portscatho

The most relaxing break that we have ever had.
Cornwall in the quiet, winter months is a real hidden gem. Very few tourist's, and the weather often warm.( not to mention no traffic on the A30 ) We came down in November to this wonderful cosy cottage by the sea, and we were not disappointed. On the first night we lit the fire and just chilled out to the sound of crackling logs. Bliss! On waking in the morning, to the view of the sea just yards away, was fantastic.
We walked to the , now famous Hidden Hut on rosevine beach, and had an amazing meal sitting under the stars. A memory that will be with me forever.
Loads of breathtaking walks along the cliff tops. Great food in the village pub. We didn't move the car for the whole week!
The cottage was so welcoming and spotlessly clean, the local management team did us proud, even arranging us a much sought-after table at the Michelin starred Rosevine Hotel.
Very highly recommended.

Cosy cottage, beautifull sea views
Lovely cottage with coastal path right on the doorstep.
Sea and village views from most rooms.
Enclosed small garden with good outside seating. Our dog enjoyed sitting out there and taking in the sea air😁
Good facilities and contact with the owner (Angela and her management team)
Washing machine was broken on our arrival but was replaced within 48 hours, very efficient as also a bank holiday weekend!
A very relaxing stay and we would definitely come again.😎
