Casual Cottage with Exterior Charm and Interior Updating Needs

We loved the: Clean private hot-tub on the deck with great views Wonderful mountain views from almost every window in the cottage Cute little outdoor solar twinkle lights that come on at night for ambiance Exterior was well maintained Real working wood burning fireplace Prime location next to wonderful restaurants and near RMNP entrance The above elements all rocked. We especially liked that cottage #14 was the highest up on the hill and away from the others. It added to the privacy element. Constructive criticism: I've stayed in many cottages and cabins in my day and I know that the interior gets used and abused due to weather and high tourism traffic... but the inside of this little cottage could really use some TLC. It needs new carpet and rugs throughout (stains, burns, holes). The paint in the bedrooms is way too dark and dated - in the pictures it's a bright cream white but in person it's a dark navy and plum that make it feel very dreary. The bathrooms (leaky shower head drip and toilet running), trim, window coverings (mostly broken blinds), pillows, and linens all need to be updated to make the stay more comfy. The main floor sleeper sofa needed to be replaced 15 years ago. Plus, the smell - it was like disinfectant met a cigarette. Consider adding some nice diffuser essential oil rods. Appliances worked great and the kitchen had necessary basic cooking supplies. Cabinets and countertops could use a new finish/update. The main grounds had large dirt mounds with old ripped tarps covering them - not a very welcoming sight. For a very casual stay - it's fine, but we are hoping they update these so we can go back. They have so much potential to be cleaner and more inviting.
