This is an ideal spot for a contemplative stay. Listening to the burbling of the river, the constant flow of bird song, and, in the evenings, the tiny whistling frogs gave our stay here a calming and soulful sound track. The piercing bursts of the conch shell told us that the fisherman had come in with their catch, only a few hundred yards away at the shore. Our own personal fruit man kept us supplied with mangos, grapefruits, papayas and avocados. Our staples were easily available at the nearby food market. Our landlords, Wendy and Susanne, couldn't have been more helpful or attentive.

Très bien placée, à l'orée du charmant village de Calibishie, la maison de Wendy et Susan est très agréable, calme et arborée. Susan est aux petits soins pour ses hôtes, et sait parfaitement transmettre son amour pour ce pays dans lequel elle a choisi de vivre... comme on la comprend !

Although I did arrive earlier than our set time, I was still able to check in several hours early, which was appreciated, as I had previously had gone on a 3 hr hike and was in a dire need of a shower. Wendy was the most gracious host, visiting regularly (every other day on average) to check up on me, as well as recommending trips and/or adventures. Wendy also saw to it that I had around a familiar local that would be there to help in a pinch anytime, day or night. As Calibishie is such quaint village, it was not uncommon to 'run into' Wendy at any of the many rum bars and cabanas. The location is ideal, minuets from the main road yet far away enough from traffic. One is also less than 10 mins form the main Groceries store as well as a multitude of bars, restaurants and other day and nightlife activities. I felt safe at all times and the locals always appeared welcoming and helpful. Calibishie, being a smaller village, also gave a very 'family' appearance, meaning that everyone seemed related by blood or marriage. The locals would go out of their ways to show the local sights (i.e secluded beaches) to other surprise treats (like the local chocolate factory, one town over).

Nous avons séjournés au Riversideview House en juin 2014 avec nos 2 filles de 9 et 4 ans. L'accueil a été formidable. La Villa a tout le nécessaire pour passer un agréable séjour. Pour conclure la Dominique est une île splendide et ses habitants ont un coeur magnifique. Nous éperons y retourner bientôt.

Avons passe un excellent sejour avec nos 2 enfants dans cette maison typiquement dominicaine. La nuit, nous etions entoures de tous les bruits de la nature car la maison est un peu en retrait de la ville, et la riviere coule juste a cote de la maison. Susan et son mari sont tres prevenants et nous ont tres bien accueillis. La maison est decoree avec des objets naturels, ca rend bien.

C'est du "roots propre" et le gîte est tranquille et très bien situé. Ce n'est pas le grand luxe mais Wendy et Suzanne sont très attentifs à notre confort. Ils sont passés nous voir régulièrement pour s'assurer que tout allait bien ou pour nous rendre différents services (lessives...) Comme d'habitude les dominicains sont accueillants et généreux ! La nature est vraiment proche, le jardin simple, bien aménagé et fleuri. La maison dispose de deux terrasses pour se reposer. Avec notre petit garçon de 4 ans, on y a passé du bon temps à observer la faune et la flore locale. Les commerces ouverts tous les jours sont vraiment à deux pas (y compris distributeur de billets et station service) et le secteur regorge de plages désertes pour jouer les robinsons.
