We were greeted by the owner and as he showed us each room they exceeded our expectations and we knew we were going to have a great stay. The villa is laid out around a well maintained pool which is the focal point of the gated property, once inside one has a secluded piece of paradise overlooked by nobody.
Sheela is the maid who methodically works around the family activities to the extent that one hardly knows she is there, apart from the fact that everything is spotless. Sheela is available for cooking and babysitting if required but we were not in need of this additional service. The maintenance and upkeep on this rental property is as good as we have ever experienced. Pool and gardening people arrived and left before we were out of bed so we didn't get disturbed by them.
We had a hire car for the duration and the location gave us some good choices of days out but best to avoid Port Louis after 3pm as it gets busy. Car hire from the airport was easy and there is a 'motorway' that links the airport and Grand Baie, we were on the island for a total of 3 weeks and never had a problem with the driving once we understood that flashing headlights mean 'I'm coming through' rather than inviting you to proceed!
There are a few restaurants in the area, our favorite was Sel Fish, very down to earth and frequented by locals. The Super U is a short drive away in Grand Baie, very well stocked for eating at the villa which has a well stocked inventory of pots, pans and utensils.
I have to give my Wife some credit for tracking this place down, it was worth every penny and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
