Location was interesting, steep mountainous climb in a car around s bend roads to the house but only 5 mins in a car to Omis town. Need a car. The river and canyon were very pretty. A stunning view from the house. The house was well kept, clean, great bathrooms. ( avoid back to back showers as the water capacity has enough for 2 hot showers at one time). English owned so great choice of library and games in English. TV channels had a choice of English/American programmes. The house was modern but quirky, lots of African influence. Kitchen was adequate, fridge freezer good. Mattress was too soft and pillows too hard for our preference but this is a personal requirement and can’t please everyone on this. There is a washing machine so can reduce amount of packing, towels and hairdryers provided. Mirjana, her husband and Nickolina were very helpful and friendly, really wanted to please us. Nickolina made us home made cakes and there was also a lovely welcome basket on our arrival. The weather was poor during our stay so pool not really used, it was clean. We travelled and visited many places. Plitvice Lakes well worth, beautiful and stunning, go early as 3 hr car journey and lots of tourists by lunchtime. The lane is a track road to the house being renovated when we were there but not likely to be disruptive from June for the rest of the season so shouldn’t be an issue we would recommend and would stay there again although our next visit to Croatia will be a sailing holiday.

Malgré notre arrivée très tardive, Nikolina nous attendait avec son sourire et sa gentillesse.vraiment aux petits soins pour nous, du pain, du fromage, du jambon de pays et du vin nous était offert à notre arrivée, sans oublier le gâteau fait maison de nikolina, un délice. La maison est fonctionnelle, très propre, au calme et offre une superbe vue.

The property is exactly as pictured with the exception of the pool which is smaller than depicted but still perfectly adequate. The settings are absolutely beautiful and very peaceful, in a genuine Croatian cluster of houses. We were met by Nicolina who provided us with bred, wine, cheese, ham, milk, home made cake and fresh fruit to get us going and was always available to answer our questions. All greatly appreciated. We were also provided with a map showing recommended restaurants, supermarkets and points of interest. The little market stalls in Omis offer great value for money for locall grown fruit and veg. We particularly enjoyed Radmanove Mill restaurant and its shaded settings on the Cetina River which although gets very busy always provides excellent food and quick service. We stayed for 10 days in the house. We were met by a representative of the owners and like the previous reviewees had a pack of local cheese, ham, home grown fruit, bread, and delicious cake. It was a really welcome gesture. First impressions of the house were good and a relief that I'd made a good online choice. We were met at the end of the road to show us the house, I am not sure I would have trusted the satnav as the house is down an unmade track on the side of the mountain/hill, quite a few houses down the road but all quite peaceful apart from the cicadas that chirp all day. The house is spacious and the 3 bedrooms we used were really comfortable, The house is really well equipped with all linen and towels for the house/pool use. The pool was a good size for cooling down in the intense heat we had in late July. Lots of very comfortable loungers to lie on and the covered verandah area to sit at out of the sun. We visited Sinji which is well worth a visit and Split and travelled up the coast to Split. There is a local supermarket and bakery in Tugare which provided all basics and a good choice of local cheese. In Omis the market first thing had small producers selling their vegetables and locally cured ham. The main street market is open until 11pm and so you could also buy supplies after eating in the restaurants. It takes about 10 minutes to drive into Omis down the mountain road - not a top gear challenge mountain road but challenging enough but I got used to it. If you are after night life its not the place but to relax and read and use as a base its great. You do need a car. We'd also recommend Konoba Tica as a resturant in Omis to try. Not as busy of many of them but some of the best food (and lots of food was great).

We arrived to be greeted by the owners representatives, two charming and helpful ladies, Marjana and Nicolina. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them. They had thoughtfully provided wine, cheese, bread, ham, milk, home made cakes and a large bowl of cherries which were all greatly appreciated and much enjoyed. We were also provided with a map showing recommended restaurants, most of which we tried during our stay. Captains House was beautifully presented and in a splendid position about 10 minutes by car from Omis. The town of Omis was charming and the people very friendly and helpful with plenty of good restaurants. The only negative was no central heating which we would have appreciated when we arrived as the temperature dropped at night and the property felt cold. However the ladies found us a couple of electric heaters which helped.
