A fantastic apartment.
Have stayed twice in this apartment and it’s fabulous! Don’t believe the reviews criticising it…..we would not have returned had the apartment been as they describe…in fact I’ve just booked a third stay. It feels like home as soon as you walk into it, has everything you need and the owner is really helpful - as are all the staff at Port St Charles. It’s never been anything other than very clean. We’ve stayed all over the Caribbean and in numerous hotels and villas in Barbados - and this apartment is just perfect - and incredibly good value.
(Oh…and the snorkelling off the beach is probably the best in the island!)

Apt 248 - As good as ever.
We cannot understand the nonsense in the review written below. We have visited three times since that review - in summers 2019, 2022 and we’re here now in July 2023. We thought our review in 2015 praising this apartment was sufficient, but clearly not. Nothing has changed from 2015. The apartment is clean, well maintained and elegant. When things need repairing or replacing (as happens in a tropical climate) it is done promptly - the fridge, dishwasher and dining table / chairs have all been replaced for example - and as an owner of a holiday let in the UK, I know very well that you can only fix problems if you know about them. There is nothing wrong with the sofas by the way. As such, I think that readers should take the negative comments below with a hefty pinch of salt and/or consider their motivation. The rental charges are also very reasonable (especially when compared with packages to Port St Charles). Come here if you have the chance. It is gorgeous!

Poorly maintained accommodation - certainly not 5* standard
I would like to state that before putting this post on Tripadvisor we emailed the owner and got a completely dismissive reply, so here goes!
First impressions when you walk in are good. Large lounge and bedroom and wonderful big terrace overlooking the marina. However, on closer inspection everything is tired and grubby. The apartment has not been well maintained - the floors were so dirty that walking around barefoot our feet very quickly were equally dirty so we had to scrub the floors on our first day. The sofas are past their best, not very clean or comfortable. The floor of the bath needs a good scrub with some bleach. However the worst part is the kitchen - the cupboard fronts are grimy, the cooking pots are chipped, the door of the fridge freezer is bubbled with water leakage and by far the worst is the inside of the dishwasher - the rungs are badly rusted and cannot be hygienic or conducive to healthy cleaning. The safe broke three times with our possessions inside and we had to call maintenance until eventually they gave us a key (instead of using a code). It’s a shame because it is a lovely large apartment within a wonderful setting.
Port St Charles itself is beautiful, wonderfully kept surroundings, lovely beach with free loungers and parasols, however, you do need a car as there is no supermarket facility on site, the nearest being 15 minutes away, and whilst this doesn’t sound far, walking back in the heat with bags of shopping (even for basics - milk, tea, coffee, water etc is no fun! The owner, when replying to our email, told us there is a complimentary shuttle service from the supermarket but how were we supposed to know that if we weren’t told?!!
On the whole we did enjoy our stay at Port St Charles but would not recommend or return to this particular apartment.

The guest made no complaints to the onsite housekeeping or maintenance departments. Most issues could have been dealt with at the time or even an alternative apartment offered. I am always suspicious of guests that send me an email after the stay saying that they are going to leave a poor review and asking for my response.Please compare the marks for each category of this review against all of the other reviews then form your own opinion.This guest did not book through this site or Holiday Lettings however has decided to leave the same review on multiple sites. (Review Ransom?,)

This was a fabulous vacation apartment
The apartment is located in the Port St. Charles resort on the west side of the island. It is light, airy, clean, comfortable and has a lovely balcony that looks out on the marina. It is very well furnished, the kitchen has a dishwasher, plenty of chinaware, silverware, pots and pans, glassware. The beds are very comfortable and it feels like a home away from home.
The beach at Port St. Charles is very nice. I could have spent all my days swimming and lounging on the beach. The staff at Port St. Charles is very helpful and very responsive. I would return to this place in a flash and I hope that I do get to come back to Barbados one day. It's a wonderful, interesting, beautiful place.

Superb apartment, excellent location
This was our fifth time in Barbados over the last 21 years and our third in apartment 248. We have travelled widely but never returned to any other holiday accommodation, so that really tells you all there is to know! Whilst perhaps not as swanky as the beachfront, the apartment's location is one of the best in the Port St Charles complex in our opinion. You are as close as is possible to the lovely sunset isle pool, whilst having a view of the sea. Being on the 1st floor (GB definition), a gentle breeze helps to keep you cool. John, the owner, has thought of everything - the apartment is very well equipped and tastefully furnished but manages at the same time to be simple and uncluttered. Everything we could wish for! It's well worth adding on the maid service (alternate days) - inexpensive and the ladies do a fabulous job - they keep everything spotless!

Wonderful Barbados ,
This is our second stay at Port St Charles, in particular this apartment, and we can't wait to return !
The apartment itself is very spacious and really nicely furnished and very well equipped. You could easily spend all day (and all night !) on the lovely big terrace which really catches the sun particularly in the afternoon throughout to sunset
Port St Charles is a lovely place to stay, and provides everything for a very relaxing holiday having its own long private beach, swimming pools and attractive club house bar and restaurant, and for those feeling really lazy there is a free water taxi service to take you where you want around the Marina and to the beach.
Everything is so clean and tidy, and the daily maid service was faultless. Everyone is so friendly and relaxed, it really is paradise in the sun !
Finally, Port St Charles is an easy drive (taxi ride) from many really super restaurants, but a tip book them well in advance and they get fully booked quickly - also if on the sea shore, ask for an 'ocean side table'

What can i say - we enjoyed it that much we have booked again!
We have been to Barbados many times but this part of the island at St Port Charles is far the best. The location of the apartment 248 is ideal it has fantastic views, a couple of minutes walk to the beach, a five minute walk to the bar and restaurant and great for being picked up by the local taxi guys. We were able to walk into the nearby town which was great and we were only a few minutes taxi ride to some fabulous restaurants. The apartment is spacious we were so lucky to have picked this apartment and we can't wait to return next week!

Port St. Charles Unit 248
We have stayed at Port St. Charles, unit 248 for the last three years and have become very fond of the resort. We have visited Barbados a number of times over the years, sometimes staying closer to Holetown and St. Lawrence Gap where it is busier, but prefer the tranquility of Port St. Charles, the wonderful Heywoods Beach that is calm enough for young children, and the view of the boating activity in the marina.
Unit 248 is a spacious, well maintained one bedroom unit that includes daily housekeeping and free WiFi. It is on the second floor and has a very large balcony with a lovely view of the pool and marina and the ocean beyond. We appreciate being able to walk to Speightstown for our groceries, and often walk up to Six Men's Bay to buy fish for supper. To get around the island it is easy to use the local big blue buses (which are excellent value at $2 Barbados per ride) as the Speightstown bus terminal is within easy walking distance from PSC. This year we went to the Holetown festival, Bathsheba, River Bay and the Northeast coast, Oistins and Bridgetown, all by bus. We enjoy swimming and snorkeling off Heywoods Beach every day, and often use the marina's free water taxi to get to the beach although it is just in front of the resort. The grounds of PSC are beautifully landscaped, with two tennis courts, and the staff, especially the ladies at the reception desk, are very helpful and friendly. The owner of unit 248, John Broadhurst from England, is responsive and reliable and we appreciate being able to pay using Paypal.
Sitting on the veranda in the evening with a cool drink and watching the magnificent sunset at Port St. Charles comes pretty close to paradise, in large part because Barbados is such a wonderful island with very friendly people. Port St. Charles is not cheap, but good value when booked privately. Now if only I could get my sailboat into one of those slips to enjoy the constant 10-15 knot winds.

Would happily recommend and hope to stay again
Had a fantastic week in Port St Charles. The apartment was spacious and airy, as well as spotless. Very comfy large bed, fully equiped kitchen, washer/dryer (great to come back from holiday with a clean suitcase for a change) and a daily maid service. Great views of the harbour and the sea beyond from the balcony. Very close to the pool and only a few mins walk to the beach. The whole complex is really well planned with colourful planting and nothing over 2 storys. The yacht club is handy if you can't be bothered to go out and serves great food with very friendly staff. Although best to have a car you can walk to Speightstown but Holetown is nicer and only 10 mins drive. The Fish Pot restaurant is my fav though and its only a 2 min drive.
