Lovely villa - perfect for family
We have just returned from our stay at Casa Karen. If you are looking for a spacious villa with everything you need a fully self catering holiday, then look no further. The villa is set in a quiet location so a car is an absolute neccesity. However, you have an array of shops, bars and restaurants within a 5 minute drive away, in the small town of L'Ametlla De Mar. There is also a couple of small beaches in the town. The tourism in the town seems to be mainly Spanish people (which we didn't mind), so you might want to scrub up on your Spanish or take a phone to Google translate! We would strongly recommend that you use trip advisor for restaurants and book the one you want. We had one particular bad experience in a restaurant and we wished we had done our homework. Parking is really difficult in the town - unfortunately there is no option other than to drive round continuously until you find a space. We enjoyed a couple of days and nights in Salou, which is only a 30 minute drive away and definitely worth the visit. The villa itself feels very secure and has a great pool for the kids, which is exceptionally well looked after. The interior is light, spacious and airy. There is no air con but the air flows through - its not really necessary. There is all the amenities you need to make this a true home from home experience. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Chris met us on our way from the airport which was really useful as we wouldn't have found the villa otherwise. All in all, we would thoroughly recommend the villa, especially to families (there were 6 of us all together and we had plenty of space). The only reason we have given 4 stars instead of 5, is we would have preferred to be in walking distance to the town (although we knew this when we booked) and the only slight critiscm is there could have been a little more attention to detail with the cleanliness (mainly on the kitchen equipment) - but thats probably us being picky!

Stay in last wk July first August
All I can say is the only down side to this property is no Aircon , but you become used to this Owners are brilliant could not be more helpful Villa and location is isolated with beautiful surroundings but within an easy drive to heat surrounding locations And the pool , how refreshing and relaxing . Our family of 8.13.15 totally enjoyed it

lovely holiday!
just returned from a fantastic break at Casa Karmen with my husband and our 3 sons(ages 13, 11 and 7). The villa is safe, spacious, modern and very well equipped. The pool area is just amazing and our 3 boys loved it- as did we. Chris and Jacqui were lovely hosts who did everything they could to make our stay as happy and comfortable as possible, without being intrusive in any way. The only area for improvement was the lack of air con, as it was extremely hot-though Chris supplied fans when we requested. (and there was an unusually hot spell during our visit) We would recommend this villa without hesitation. Many thanks Chris and Jacqui.

Villa with a nice private pool
We had a perfect stay, No photos are misleading. Thank you Chris and Jacqui (the very friendly owners) for making our stay great. Very clean and modern villa and much better than it looks in the photos, I would highly recommend it as we loved this villa. The interior is very spacious and bright, the floor is fully tiled, very comfortable for our family of 5, very well equipped modern kitchen. Excellent private swimming pool that was the highlight of our stay. We also used the BBQ to prepare evening meal; Chris pointed us in the right direction for the specialist meat shop for the BBQ and supermarket etc, but I would recommend having a car as the shops are not around the corner. The owners helped us a lot in making our stay comfortable. We visited several places with their help. They are welcoming and approachable as it helped a lot in creating a good, memorable and a dream holiday. Thanks On the day of our arrival Chris and Jacqui were happy to let us check in late at around 10 pm and even offered to meet us at the exit of the motorway so that we could follow them to the villa. However our flight had been delayed so we got to the motorway exit at around 3:30 in the morning, we parked up on the roadside to contact them but our phones had died. A Police car approached us and we explained the situations, they were so much helpful that they had offered to take us to the villa. We followed the Police car for around 7 kilometres and arrived at the villa the Police officers even rang the owners to ensure that we got into the villa. We all really appreciated the help of the Police as they really went extra miles to help us.

Not what we expected
Disappointed all round with this property. We have 3 children aged 10,8 & 5 who were so looking forward to the pool. When we arrived we saw that the slide was not there anymore but were told that a new one was coming during the week. Of course, it never arrived. The slide was one of the main reasons we booked this property. The ground screws were still left uncovered in the ground with sharp metal which we discovered when my 8 year old badly cut his foot on it. No air conditioning - not even fans supplied! Trying to sleep at night was impossible, it made us ill. We were also told not to use much water as they are in the middle of nowhere and have to tank water in! They set the water supply so low that we could only get a trickle. We's met up with our family in Girona the week before and this was going to be a lovely quite week with just the five of us but we all came away very disappointed and felt ripped off to be honest. If you don't have children, don't mind getting your car wrecked driving to this property, don't mind being literally in the middle of nowhere and love being sweaty and hot with no chance of a shower even, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, don't bother and keep searching.

Brilliant , helpful and relaxing
We had a great time the villa is clean pool is clean the sallow bit is great for little ones we had car trouble and the owners where so helpful they arranged for our car to be fixed at a local garage and couldn't of been more helpful nice little village and large supermarket close by would return in a heart beat .

If you want too see the real Spain this is the place
Met Chris the owner in l Ametila de mar who we then followed to the property. After winding through some lovely country roads we arrived. The reaction from everybody was wow! This property is real Spanish charm set amongst olive and carob trees at the end of a country lane . Don't worry Chris will guide you. The property is very spacious and bright with a beautiful garden with an excellent pool which was well used especially with the hot weather . Close by a mere 5 minutes by car you have the town of l Ametila de mar. This is a small town with a selection of beaches to choose from the atmosphere in the town especially in the evenings is fantastic the streets are filled with beautiful traditional Spanish architecture restaurants with many happy customers dining on local produce and with no question world class seafood freshly harboured in by the local fishermen which is a must to go and watch them bring in their interesting catch from huge tuna to octopus and all varieties of fish. Within an hours drive you have a choice of over 30 beaches many beautiful towns and Tarragona city. The property is wonderful to return to after a day out from many excursions you can choose from l travelled with my wife and three children 20 18 and 14. The property is suitable for any age range. I would recommend this property "This is real Spain". Many thanks to Chris and Jaqui. Mr Emms and family.

vacances au calme garantie
La maison est au calme dans les champs d'olivier. L'extérieur est très grand, nombreux coins d'ombres pour manger et se reposer. Il y a une salle d'eau et une salle de bain donc une seule douche dans la salle de bain, hormis celle de la pisicine, mais l'eau y est un peu froide pour se doucher. Pas de volets aux fenetres, ou de rideaux occultants, sauf dans la suite parentale. Pour les adeptes de café, demander une cafetière à l'arrivée car il n'y a que pour le thé!!!
