THE MAKANI A KAI RESORT "ON THE BEACH" is the smallest resort in Maalaea with only 24 units, and one of only two complexes that have full beach front access. You can't get closer to the Pacific ocean than you can in this bright spacious fully air-conditioned, 2nd floor, two story condo. You have breathtaking views of the Maalaea Bay, the grand Haleakala volcano and the sparkling lights of Kihei at night.
Enjoy whales jumping 100 yards off shore during season and beautiful waves breaking on the shallow reef beyond the beach. This condo is conveniently located within walking distances to beach parks, restaurants, shopping and fabulous boating and yachting at the Maalaea Harbor.

Amazing Views and Great Location!
The views from the lanai were amazing, the less crowded beach made for great walks, the amenities were perfect with additional gear provided for spending days at the beach. The condo is centrally located to lots of good beaches, snorkeling, heliport, shopping, and restaurants. We enjoyed everything about Maui and the condo!

Unbeatable Location!
Fantastic stay, wonderful hosts! Newly remodeled bathrooms have gorgeous showers and the view here is the true star! Amazing cove and beach access for great swimming and walks. Simply excellent.

It was old and has an old house smell
Our experience with this rental property was not so great. We arrived after dark, the impression we had first walking into the house was that the place is old, it had a weird old house smell, and it was poorly lit. It was almost like waiting into an old lady's house at night, except this place costs little over $250 plus fees. We toured the house, the bathroom was old, full of half used products on the counter and cabinets. The safety strips at the bottom of the bath tub was peeling off. We called the owner and asked him if he could give us a refund because the place was not as advertised. He said if we leave right away, he would refund us the cleaning fee. We called Sheraton to see if we can book a room, we did and we left. Owner later mailed the cleaning fees back. We left in a hurry, didn't want to stay for longer than we have to, so we didn't take any pictures. Looking back, even if we had to throw 1 thousand dollars away plus the 1600 dollars to rebook another hotel, it was well worth it just not having to stay at this condo.

Very homey full apartment in lovely beachfront location
Maalaea is an off-the-beaten trail but still close to everything location near the aquarium. The apartment is fully-equipped with cathedral ceilings, loft upstairs with private bath and full bedroom with its own bath and full kitchen. The deck is wonderful overlooking a lovely beach which is steps away, along with a lovely small pool, hot tub and patio with BBQ. The owners are very accommodating and thoughtful of every need, including providing quarters for the laundry! You can go right out and have a long walk along beautiful Sugar Beach. We found this to be a very welcoming and relaxing place to stay, outside of the tourist bustle.

Wonderful condo, great view, great location !
Right on the water with a gorgeous view and everything you need in the condo !!
Location on the island of Maui is ideal ! Convenient for a drive to Hana or a drive to the top of Halaekala or for exploring the west end of the island. No sound machine needed with the soothing sound of breaking waves lulling you to sleep each night. Thanks to the Lamkins for providing us such a great condo for our vacation to Maui.

Absolute perfection
My husband booked this condo for our anniversary and it was everything I ever dreamed of and more. Bill and Chris were very responsive to any questions. The condo itself had anything you needed. We really appreciated the beach chairs, towels, umbrella, and snorkel gear. I have 2 new addictions ... POG and macadamia cookies, thanks to the welcome basket. When we first planned our trip, we said it would be a once in a lifetime thing. As we boarded the plane we were trying to figure out how quick we could get back and stay at the very same spot. Thank y’all for sharing your beautiful home with us. I hope to see you soon!

Fantastic condo!!!!
If you want to have a spectacular view of the ocean while sitting on the lanai, watch amazing sunrises, be within 100 feet of the beach,and stay in a beautiful condo with great owners... then this is the place for you! We absolutely love this condo, it was perfect for us. Bill & Cris have thought of everything you need, the attention to detail was wonderful.. including a nice welcome fruit & coffee basket, ocean “toys”, water bottles in the refrigerator, well stocked kitchen,and a restaurant book with their recommendations. This condo is the perfect place to stay!!!

Sunrise Oasis
My wife and I had a wonderful 10 year anniversary in no small part to the attention to detail Bill and Cris have given to their Condo. We were impressed with not only its placement within the condo complex, but the complex itself. Firstly, you step into a exquisitely manicured property that lends itself to privacy and peace. Inside, mirrors made every view great and the lanai on the second floor gave a territorial view of Haleakala as well as the entire coastline from south of Kihe to Maalaea. Everything we wanted to do was provided for...4 sets of snorkling gear in various sizes, backpack beach chairs, fishing poles, screw secured beach umbrella, breakfast, laundry change, you name it they had you covered. Follow their eating recommendations, you won’t be disappointed. Above all we felt like we were cared for like family. It was awesome!

Such a good place to stay and enjoy Maui
We had a really pleasent stay here. Bill and Cris had everything cleaned up very accurately and we even could get into the flat earlier which was very relaxing since we had an early arrival.
The flat is fitted very well with everything you need and the next target isn't far, so we were prepped for the holiday immediately. Really beautiful was the view on the ocean from the bed and while sitting on the balcony. Also the neighbours were very friendly and helped out with many informations. Another plus was the washing room. Pretty nice to have the opportunity to wash your clothes.
For sure we will be back and we will recommend Makani A Kai to friends!

Amazing Condo!
I rented this condo for myself and my daughter for 10 days. The location was amazing. The beach was just a few steps away. At night we listened to the ocean and slept incredibly. The condo had everything we needed and more. Beach toys, chairs, and towels. The location in Maalaea was perfect. We were away from the touristy areas, yet close enough that it took only 20 mins to Kihei or Lahaina, and the airport. Bill (the owner) was very accommodating. He even left some quarters so we could do laundry, and the fresh fruit and coffee were much appreciated. I will definitely be staying here on my next visit to Maui.
