On our arrival, Gladys, the property owner, welcomed us warmly by walking us through the apartment to show us how to use the modern appliances - air conditioner, stove, oven, coffee maker, TV and washing machine - and to advise where beach towels, spare bathroom towels, pillows and blankets were kept.
Several Malta tourist attraction brochures were in the apartment, and Gladys had prepared a comprehensive booklet with Google maps of the two nearest supermarkets, various local eateries, and bus stop information for the local Tallinja bus service - amongst other useful pieces of information.
For our first day, Gladys thoughtfully provided seasonal fruit, fresh milk, 2 cans of Maltese Cisk beer, some hobz Maltin and gbejniet, 3 x 2 litre bottles of still water for cooking, coffee and tea, and a packet of sliced cheese. These foods were in addition to pantry essentials of tea, coffee, sugar, flour, rice, pasta, vinegar, cooking oil, salad oil, salt, pepper, and even chilli powder and cumin which we were warmly encouraged to use during our stay.
The apartment, decor and furniture were spotlessly clean, and there were adequate storage spaces - drawers, wardrobes and cabinets. Crockery, cutlery, pots and pans, storage containers, and various kitchen utensils - from a can opener to a citrus juicer and more - were available to use.
The bed and sofas were comfortable, and the nice sized shower in the freshly renovated bathroom had good water pressure.
The nearest Tallinja bus stop was a 10 minute walk, then a 15 minute bus ride to the capital of Valletta for further bus connections to all of Malta's tourist attractions and beaches.
After busy days of bus travels to visit the attractions and beaches, the apartment was always a pleasure to return to.
Thank you, Gladys, for such a wonderful stay which was like home away from home.
