This is a great place to stay on west bay beach. Much more like a home than a lot of the others along this beach. Set a few yards back from the beach, but still offering a great view of the beach from the porch or kitchen, it's quiet when you want it or the action is mere strides away. Very well maintained and stocked with all basic provisions. Highly recommended.

Perfect location for an easy, relaxing vacation
The house was clean, updated, spacious, fully stocked. You cannot beat the location being very close to dive shops, restaurants and bars. Crystal clear water and fantastic snorkeling. Management team were easy to deal with, cleaning crews very friendly and 24 hour security(but never felt like they were needed).. Bring (or make) your no-see-um spray and mosquito repellant for the mornings and evenings. We will be back!!

Heading back to Tortuga Beach House Spring 2017
Excellent holiday! Everything was relaxful and so easy. Owner arranged an airport pick up (no hassle). Professional trusted driver stopped at a well stocked reasonably priced grocery store to pick up all the food & supplies we required. Meal prep was easy as the unit has a fully stocked gourmet kitchen with lots of extras (we are not used to having high quality utensils etc. when staying at other vacation rentals). The apartment is spacious, very clean, very comfortable mattresses and pillows.
Eating our meals on the large porch allowed us a view of the beach and the ocean while getting some shade, cool breeze and some quiet time. After a delicious dinner we made our way up to an incredible rooftop deck for a magnificent view of the stars (StarWalk app, very limited light pollution, privacy). The West Bay Village is professional managed so everything is very well taken care of and we felt safe.
Of course the beach is brilliant and full of life. Too many activities for us to take in but we couldn't get enough of the opportunity to SCUBA dive at such pristine area. World class diving. We were thrilled to find an excellent dive shop (Bananarama - professional, small boats, safety oriented) a couple of minutes down the beach.
We are planning a return visit to Tortuga Beach House in 2017 which really says it all.

110% Paradise
There are almost too many adjectives to list for Tortuga: immaculate, comfortable, relaxing, and convenient, to name a few. This wonderful condo is spacious, and has everything you might want,to enhance your stay in Roatan. We booked our stay directly with Island House Roatan, and the staff here; from the office to the nice young men who guard the property, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. There was no question or request that they did not address immediately, and with a smile.
The kitchen is wonderfully stocked, and if we thought we needed something, we would just open a drawer or cabinet, and find it. I highly recommend using their transportation services, and adding a stop at Eldon's grocery store when you land in Roatan; it was only a $5.00 addition to a reasonable price. We made our list ahead of time, and were able to get everything we needed. I downloaded a money conversion app before our trip, and this helped us when shopping or dining; the prices were reasonable at Eldon's, especially if you buy local foods, coffee, etc., but generally, affordable. If your family like a certain kind of granola bars, nuts, etc, you might throw some in your suitcase, as they do have a few varieties, but, of course, not as many as you see at your store, at home.. Still, having lived overseas for 5 years, I have to say Eldon's has a little bit of everything. A bottle of local rum, Venado de Oro, can be bought there, as well as local coffee, at great prices. We even bought our coffee gifts for those at home, at that time. Be sure to stop in their bakery section and grab some croissants, the elephant ear looking pastries and other goodies, to enjoy with your morning coffee, too. Bring some grocery bags with you, as they do not provide them (ours doubled as beach bags later, thank you Dollar Tree!).They provided coffee filters, paper towels, dish soap, small bar soaps, and other cleaners, such as a Windex type spray, and more. There was a fresh bag of ice, ice trays , and also a dispenser of purified bottled water, and an extra refill bottle, provided by Island House, as well.
The individual air conditioning units work very well, and so does the wifi and tv. There are many channels, including some in English, although you will be so mesmerized by the "semi off the grid" relaxing feeling of the island, you may only turn it on once, as we did, to watch news from Miami, FL.
Plush beach towels are provided, as well as a beach sarong, for the ladies. We quickly realized that shoes are option when you are anywhere on the beach, and you'll wear your aqua sox more often, than you flip flops.Bring loose, cottony clothing, as they breeze slows down before the sun is up in the morning, and after it goes down, at night. Once you are somewhere with a drink in hand, listening to live music under a fan, you won't mind much. During the day, the beach breez e was perfect for keeping you cool. We did not experience a lot of bugs, but we did wear bug bands (Amazon.com has some braided leather ones, and used Picardin lotion and spray,we also bought on Amazon. which is a natural product, that worked well. WE each had only one bite, in 5 days here; certainly less than we get here, in Texas!) The entire small village of buildings is quiet at night, well guarded at all times, and perfectly located for a quick walk to snorkel at the rock, to your left, or to head to Bananrama, for trivia night, live music, or great pizza.
The beds are comfortable,and the bedding is very soft. The wash cloths, towels, and hand towels in the beautifully tiled bathrooms, are large and good quality. The entire condo is full of very nice finishes; Honduran wood touches and cabinetry, and a charming decor. The tile floors felt so wonderfully cool to our bare feet, day or night.
We truly enjoyed our visit to Roatan, with so much to do, see, eat and drink, and coming home to this beautiful, spacious condo each night, truly enhanced our stay. We met other guests, and enjoyed getting to know them; many were repeat visitors to these condos and houses, and we are glad to be joining them, in the years to come! With a wonderful staff, being so perfectly located, and having everything you need, you'll love staying at Tortuga, too.

Beautiful view of the sea from upstairs balcony and clean, excellent interior
This upstairs apartment is clean, modern, well-maintained two-bedroom, two bathrooms with kitchen plates, cutlery, and equipment, and best of all, the view from the balcony where there is a large table and 5 chairs is wonderful. There is only one house between this house and the beach right in front of West Bay Village, which means one avoids direct wind and sun, but you see the blue water in a frame of tree leaves. You can walk to the water in two minutes and walking left for the distance of a block takes you to the end of West Bay beach, where you can walk into the water and begin snorkeling immediately above the very near coral beds and many colorful fish. You can also make it out to the Wall from this beach. Island House Resort management staff are very helpful and responsive. You can't go wrong with the rental.

Great deck, nice home, close to the beach
This was our third stay in WBV first time at Tortuga House. There were four of us, two couples. We loved the deck and spent a lot of time out there in the evenings. The house is located about 15-20 steps from the beach. The bedrooms and bathrooms are both nice size and connected to each other. The house has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We normally have never had any issues with the other rentals but we found two suggestions for the future renters and gave our recommendations to the property managers when we left. One was that the steps up to the house are very slippery when wet (husband fell and hurt his ribs the first day) and there should be a throw rug by the deck door leading into the house as this area can get be very slippery at times too due to the tile. We are quite sure both will be taken care of as Island House are very good about taking care of your every need! We wouldn't hesitate to rent this home again and love the staff at Island House!

It was great to have you guys back again. As per your suggestion the owners will be bringing non-slip traction tape to put on the steps when they come in March. We will be finding a rug for the deck door also. Thanks for your comments and suggestions in helping us make the home better for future guests.

Beautiful beach house, excellent location
We LOVED the Tortuga House, it was everything and more than what we expected. We stayed here with another couple, and both had beautiful rooms and ensuites. The location is fantastic, and the village of homes is very quaint and beautiful. The beautiful beach is right there! The people that are in charge of this house are very attentive, helpful, and were very good at recommending things and places as this was our first time to Roatan. There is security and it is gated. Would we return - absolutely! I would recommend this house to anybody, it was a fantastic holiday, and we would return right here the next time we come to Roatan.

THE BEST BEACH VACATION TO DATE
this was our first trip ever to rotan and we found our own piece of treasure. it took many months of research to find the ideal place and spot to stay. i have to tell you all the research paid off, for Tortuga Beach House was the x...on the treasure map.
I had the pleasure of dealing with michael, who address all my concers and also provided me with a wealth of information. he set it up where a guy picked us at the airport, that guy also came into our apartment one night and cooked a great meal..
Anyway, the apartment is in a little village with beautiful palm trees. Tortuga Beach is on the second level with a priceless view of the beach. my family and i have traveled to many far off destinations, but the combination of roatan and the tortuga beach house is perfect.
the condo itself is very spacious and new. the kitchen is a true gourmet and great for entertaining.
after wondering around the village, although all the units were nice tortuga beach was just a notch above the rest. I look foward in going back especially when the new roof-top deck was added.

Enjoyable Time to Reunite With Family
I arrived from the West and my cousin arrived from the East, together we met at Roatan after not seeing each other for many years. Torgtuga gave us a 'home away from home' atmosphere. This new beach house includes numerous indoor amenities to make a relaxing holiday perfect (including an awesome housekeeper). Outdoor amenities include 24 hour security, groundskeepers and being steps from the world famous West Bay Beach.
A pre-arranged driver was arranged for an airport pick up. With the help of the driver, groceries were purchased at a local supermarket. However, nightly supper was at one of many West Bay or West End restaurants/bars.
Snorkelling on the reef right off the beach was incredible! The coral is so alive with colour and varieties of fish abundant.
This property is vary spacious and CLEAN!

Amazing Beach House
My family of 4 (2 kids) stayed at Tortuga the last week of August - and thought it was a fantastic place to stay in West Bay! The property was clean, nicely decorated and well maintained. My kids fought daily over the walk-in shower in the 2nd bedroom. I had initially thought the tile floors throughout was a little odd - but after our first day in the water I realized the tile was a huge benefit - especially with kids! It's only a few steps to the best beach on Roatan - beautiful sand and only a short swim out to the reef. There are lots of restaurants in easy walking distance of West Bay Village - and a small shopping center nearby with a coffee/wine bar, small grocery, ATM and souvenir shop. The water taxi dock is also very close. We only got to enjoy the deck a little bit due to the hot temperatures - but it was great spot to set out our beach gear, and has amazing views of the water! The property management staff were so helpful - it was great to have them as a local resource!

We normally stop at the grocery store on our way from the airport for the bulk of our food. West Bay Mall is a short walk and has a coffee shop, car or scooter rental store and a deli that sells wine, beer, spirits, ice, and water with an ATM. Don't forget the fruit-veggie truck and fish truck that drop by our village regularly, along with the banana bread man.
